Spinning my wheels
![]() |
I have a 3-4 year old K2 road bike. It was the lowest model I could get (not very light and has a triple up front). I paid about $750 for it.
In the past two years, I've ridden it twice. I will not ride on the road here in SoCal (it scares me too much...I know, accidents can happen anywhere but I'm not about to up my odds on purpose, just my opinion on it). In fact, the only thing I would use it for would be to put it on a trainer, but getting poked in the eye is more fun that that. Should I keep it, hoping that someday I'll move to the countryside and want to ride it again? Or should I sell it and put the $$ in the bank? It's taking up room in my house and collecting dust. |

If you don't use it on a trainer (I don't have access to spin class, so do an interval DVD on our trainer) I'd say sell it for cheap. You can either save the money or pick up something else you need.
If you ever move to the country and decide you want to road bike, get something new then with the money you save by not living in San Diego ![]() FWIW, if you want to do a few road rides with us this spring/summer/fall... we do a nice 50 mile ride near the coast that has *very* little traffic (mostly on bike paths and then through a campground - you do ride through Pendleton, though), and then our long difficult ride locally also has little traffic. But, you'd need to keep the bike ![]() |

Keep it for a few more years, things change.

Which way did he go?

Turn it into art....
![]() You could also donate it to a local charity and get a big tax deduction.

Hold on to it, I think this mountain biking fad is about played out.

I need a tow truck ASAP

Sell it while it is still worth something. If you were ever to move somewhere that you could ride it w/o fear of becoming road kill you'd probably want a better bike by then anyway. Sell it, you will not miss it.
