Spinning my wheels

At Sea Otter, 2005...

I was a real newb to riding (only a few months). They had this park with ladder drops and such set up. I did the smaller of the two thinking I was sooooo good. Then, I lined up to do the larger one. There was hardly any run-in at all. I went for it anyway and splatted in front of tons of people. I got up and walked away but really hurt my hip bone.

Thumbs up Does this count......

Just finished riding Blackstar to the Motorway with Lacey, at her first attempt at the Counting Coup (she was 12 years old). She had missed the cut-off by 20 minutes, so we couldn't continue. As we were heading back to Winston's truck i figured I'd do a little wheelie drop off of the rock wall at the Maple Srpings parking lot. I'd done it a dozen times before, without a hitch.
I rolled up on to the rocks, then kind rode off into the grassy part, still heading to the edge.
Going way to slow, I think to myself, "I can still pull this off".

WRONG!

As I rolled up to the edge, my front tire hit it and reminded me how tall the lip is. I pulled up and did the good ol' pedal kick to wheelie drop (going way to slow) and my rear tire can to a complete stop!

End result..........

I never even let go of the bars. Landed on my head (thank goodness for thick skulls), let out a big WOW!, rolled on over, and got up laughing.

It was the first time Lacey had ever seen me crash....HARD.

On a single-track sharp turn, I fell and ended up over a fallen tree branch. My body on one side of the branch, the bike on the other but one of my feet still clipped in. It was an akward position because I could not get my shoe un-clipped, or even reach the shoe to remove it. I struggled to get up before my friends reached me cause they are the type to take pictures before offering any assistance.

I guess within a minute I managed to free myself. No pictures though, I got up before they arrived.

I was going to ride in Maui so I took my pedals off my bike to take with me. Realized I would be riding with platforms so put them back on the bike, about two turns in. When I got home loaded the bike up for a ride. When I got there, got on the bike, pedaled about two revolutions, and the pedals fell off, still attached to my shoes. Luckily I had my toolbox in the car to put them back on.

me - after just moving here during my first local group ride

one of my pedals got bashed in relo and springs got jacked in spds in move from east coast so was a b!tch "clipping out".

after great ride in el moro come ripping into parking lot mid-pack coming down no dogs. throw down a cutty/skid brake and once stopped cannot get my foot unclipped so everyone hears the loud skid looks at me and then sees me fall over hard!!! best part is i still couldn't get my foot out while laying on the ground so had to remove my f'n shoe.

nice way to introduce yourself to new ride community

I loaded by bike on top of my car...fork mount. Changed clothes, stowed my gear, but left my front wheel leaning on my rear bumper.

Then proceeded to back up over it

I kept getting a flat over and over. I took it into Rock n Road to find out what was wrong with the wheel. Turns out there was a huge thorn stuck in the tire. I could have just felt for it on the first flat. I felt like a fool.

An old buddy of mine had a small BMX track in his back yard across the street from me. My old house had a really steep driveway. So I proceeded to wheel a trike (skateboard style) down my driveway, across the street (rarely any cars), through his driveway, and up and off the dirt ramp. Well....the trike was this heavy metal red object that pretty much lodged itself into the base of the dirt ramp and I took a header over the ramp and face planted.

I had a pretty close one last night... following on someone's wheel down a technical ST in the san gabs (RR: San Gab's by night...) and he went high-speed OTB. His back wheel, as it kicked up, knocked my handlebar mounted light and whizzed by my face by an inch or so....

What's that car rule? 2 seconds of space at any speed? Perhaps I should apply it to MTB's as well...

messing around in the parking lot before a ride...

decided to try to wheelie from a trackstand, the first downstroke on the pedals flipped me over on my back...

which I compression fractured as a result.

I knew I was hurt, but I was then lying on HOT pavement that had to be over 120* while trying to deal with the pain and getting my wind back, I couldn't take it...

So I moved myself into a friends car, instead of staying immobilized.

stoopid

3 seconds and yeah, I did the samething. Followed a buddy down Mathis. He slammed on his brakes, I swerved and took a header over my handlebars. that was dumb.
