Default Leadville 100.......anyone?

Anyone here doing the Leadville 100 this year? I just noticed that they posted the list of registered racers on their site and there are quite a few names with local addresses.

Anyone?

I know a couple guys on the Geoladders team are doing Leadville. They may be the local names. Intense race....

I'm really excited. I didn't get through the lottery last year and was really excited about the race. I've done it twice but there's just something about it that keeps me wanting to go back.

Anywho....if you're name is on the list chime in......we should ride!

Fast company.

I did the Brian Head 100 once and that was enough for me. 100 miles at elevation all of it over 8,000 feet. I've never been that tired in my life. Still I wish I had the time and energy to do Leadville. Some say Leadville is the toughest mountain bike endurance race there is. Others say CreamPuff, I say anyone who can do either is a helluva rider.

Brianhead 100 was awesome! I wish that race was still around....one of my all time favorites. Congrats on finishing one of the classics!

Truth be told....if you could get through Brianhead....you could get through Leadville or the Puff. In terms of difficulty I'd have to say the Puff is a tiny bit harder than Leadville unless you're someone that really suffers at altitude or in the rain....and then Leadville is an absolute b*tch.

Looks like I got in.

4 guys from my team are doing it. First time for 3 of us and 7th time for the guy that talked us into it. I'm shooting for under 9 hours to get that handcrafted gold & silver belt buckle trophy.

Good luck. That's a great goal to have. Hell, I'd like just to be able to finish before the cut off times. But you're a very strong rider, you'll do great.

Which team?

If you guys have any group training rides planned I'd be interested in joining in.......long rides start to get a little lonely/boring by the time summer racing season rolls around!

It's not so bad once you see that the vertical scale is 100 times the horizontal scale. (800 pixels/mile vs. 8 pixels/mile). Drawn to scale it looks flat!

I'm guessing there is NOTHING flat about it when you are starting at 9000'!

You mean over 9,000 feet and mostly above 10,000 feet don't you?

My wife (as has donkey) has done both of these events and points to the Puff as notably more difficult. YMMV.

Our team. I think I'm going to be riding San Juan Super Loop #2 from Ladera a few times in prep for Leadville.

Key word there is that it "looks" flat when stretched. It has the same elevation gain as the VQ, and it's twice as long.

These kind of rides will take you to a whole new place in your head you never even knew exsisted.

Yep, most over 10,000 feet elevation, Brian Head was and still is the hardest ride I've ever done.
