Speaking of Crank Bros, does anyone here know someone at the company that might reveal the production status of those stunning-looking wheels they had at Interbike?

Stop with the 29er evangelism already! That wheel size seems to have some plusses, but geez...quit hitting everyone over the head with it.
That goes for the rest of you 29er evangelists, too! I mean all of this in a nice way, of course. ![]()

They are finalizing the freehub design. I know they have been test riding them for a while, so hopefully everything will be sussed out when they are released.

Just like those of us with 9.5" don't go running around telling all those hardtails to get something bigger. Really, though, we don't need to brag or boast and say we're better like some of them 29er folk. Edit: 9.5" of suspension Actually, those wheels look like some kind of toy building set...was that K'nex? You be the judge.

Actually, they can take it just fine.
In all honesty, I used to wonder why wheels weren't proportional to body height--long before anyone started preaching 29er. It just made sense that if top tubes, head tubes, and seat tubes could be sized to fit a body when there must be a way to do the equivalent with wheels. There have been a few high-end 24" wheel offerings for shorter riders, so it only makes sense that a bigger wheel system should exist for the taller ones. If a 29er works for you, great, but why the constant 29er evangelism? Why beat everyone else over the head with it? Are YOU compensating for something? ![]()

A good fit, to be sure! I'm trying to picture what a real-life 29er evangelist would look like...no doubt that long, flowing robes, a pulpit to pound on, and a choir would be preaching essentials. ![]() "Twenty-nine is the way, my son! Can I get an 'amen?'"

Yes. I have seen the "Bros" out several times on those wheels. They have put lots of miles on them and they don't baby them.

Reviving this thread. . .
I just got an email from CB about the wheels in question. They're starting to take reservations for them (without actual commitment or deposit!!). As of right now, you have until April 30 to reserve them. http://www.crankbrothers.com/wheel_cobalt.php Right now they only have the XC set, there's supposed to be an all mountain coming soon, at least that's what they said @ IB. Oh yeah, the retail price is $1,000 cool ones. . . ![]() Cheers!
