Default Save San Clemente Singletracks

Alot of people are wanting and pushing for the 241 Toll Road to be extended into San Clemente. Not only will this ruin the world-famous Trestles surfing beach but also the San Clemente Singletracks.

If you value these pristine locations please contact the California Coastal Commission and tell them that you don't want the toll road to go through.

They are already against it but need more support to completely shelve the idea. We can do it if enough people show their opposition. We can kill it just like the El Toro Airport was killed!

Please act now before it is too late!

Thank you,

I had already signed it in support of surfrider and saving trestles..... didn't even think about the local trails (since I'm not familiar with them). Thanks for the heads up...

sent a letter along with signing. I really hope this doesn't go through, they should try to fix congestion in the LA area before trying to further ruin the OC and its surrounding county's natural appeal.

freakin' politics...

The real reason they want to do this is so they can set a legal precedent so they can build a toll road where they really want to.... Chino Hills! (This is their dirty secret): they want to extend the 241 past the 91 through to the northern Inland empire, bisecting Chino Hills state park. They figured they could run it through San Onofre first with not as much opposition as they would get if they tried Chino hills first. They were wrong.
Another great way to fight them is to not finance them-don't use the tollroads or fast track, or if you must, use them as little as possible; and ask friends and family to do the same.
about the "relieving traffic" argument its proponents use; it seems to me that no matter how many roads are built traffic still sucks ass because they'res too many people and overdevelopment. Also, sitting in traffic is a small price to pay for keeping the open spaces we have left. BTW numerous studies show the toll road extension would do very little to relieve traffic on the 5. Did you also know for some hideous reason, maintenance and repair on the privately owned toll road is partially subsidized by our taxes? They also have some legal loophole where they can delay improvements on the 5, therefore garnering support for their road plans. WTF?

damn- and to think that i had the opportunity to work for the environmental consulting company that is doing the impact report. man, i would have been the "most un-thanked member"

the odd part is that the route they're now at was one of about 10 alternatives chosen. the truly odd part? the first alternative that must be assessed is the "no project" option
