Default Dirt Series in SOCAL!!!

[Jenson USA has teamed up with Rocky Mountain Bicycles to bring their Legendary Dirt Series to Southern California for the first time! For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the Dirt Series, their camps began in Whistler, B.C., and have gained momentum over the years. At this event you will get hands-on training from pro riders (Wade Simmons included!) There are now 15-20 camps held annually in various locations. Although the Dirt Series has run women's-specific camps in the past, this one will be CO-ED.

Rocky Mountain directly handles sign-ups and registration through their http://www.dirtseries.com/ website and Jenson USA, Corona, will be your "Home Base" and host throughout the entire event weekend.

[ Everyone is welcome.
  • Weekend of April 26 / 27, 2008
  • Learn new skills and enhance your confidence with advice from the experts
  • An entire weekend of instruction, practice, and tips that will leave you jazzed and energized about mountain biking.
P.S. As more details firm up I will keep you updated. Rumors are floating about one of the two days going to Southridge.

I attended the Santa Cruz camp the last 2 years and had a BLAST! Skills drills in the morning, then you ride on local trails in the afternoon. I can't do the local camp this year, but I'm considering going to the Santa Cruz camp again. It's hard to turn down an opportunity to ride at Soquel Demo Forest!

Cool More Info!!!!

Corona, CA
Saturday, April 26 – Sunday, April 27 (Co-ed Camp)

Hey Everyone I wanted to give you an update and more information on the Dirt Series that Rocky Mountain and JensonUSA have been putting together. This will be our first year doing a camp in Southern California, and we’re definitely excited. Kurt Kunoth, the local Rocky Mountain rep, has been working with us for months, figuring out the best locations for the skills and rides, and essentially planning the most fun and informative camp they possibly can. Right now we’re anticipating using the trails at South Ridge in Fontana, and at Aliso Woods in Laguna Hills.

If you still sitting n the fence, or dying for more information keep your eyes on this space for updates as Katrina Strand heads to California to check things out, and our permit applications go through the appropriate processes.

Usually Rocky has an all female staff, but since this is a co-ed camp, Wade Simmons and Andreas Hestler have signed on to coach too! With Rocky Mountain team membership, Olympic appearances, Red Bull Rampage wins, and countless other achievements under their cumulative belts, look forward to learning all you can here. I personally think it would be a DREAM to follow these guys down our local trails and see what ninja lines and skills they pull out of there bags of trick.

Once everything lines up, this camp is shaping out to be epic and ideal for women or men; cross-country to freeride disciplines; and beginner to advanced skill sets.

See you in the sun!
Jared

I so wish I could go to this! Unfortunately it's scheduled on a bad weekend for me, and I think there are a number of races and other MTB events going on the same day.

I've been to the Santa Cruz camp twice and I LOVED it. I'm bummed, I kept pushing for a SoCal camp, and now that there is one finally, I can't be there!

If Katrina Strand is going to be one of the coaches, you can't go wrong...

WTF Carla?! I see you've done some jumping on the Fully loop. When are you going to bring that ramp out on Thursdays and do some demos for us.

Man, talk about holding out on us...

We'd held off on posting the female coaches until we had a final list... and we have that now.

Tera Card
Three-time Canadian Dual Slalom Champion, multi-time
Canadian National Team Member, former gymnastics competitor and coach, Sociology graduate.

Cassandra Boon
Multiple-time provincial and national series Downhill
Champion, former US pro team rider, undergrad in athletic therapy, studying for her Doctorate in Chiropractic.

Penny Cameron
Ski and Mountain Bike Pro Patroller, 2008 Trans Rockies
competitor. Bike mechanic, multi-sport athlete, and consummate recreationalist based in Whistler, BC.

Candace Shadley
Founder and director of the Dirt Series program,
former Provincial Mountain Bike Technical Director, longtime multi-sport instructor and coach, based in Whistler, BC.
