I'm selling one of my bikes and this is a response I got.

Pls understand that i am quite okay with your prices,Payment would be made out by Check which will be issued in your name for easier cashing, Pls note that I have a shipper who handles my shipping, so you dont need to bother about shipping. I just need you to understand that the check you would be receiving would be an excess check, so all you have to do is , when you receive the check , take to your bank for cashing, then deduct your own part for the item then the remaining balance , i would give you my shipper's contact details to send it to via western union transfer, then after he has received payment, he would contact you to schedule a pickup arrangements.

If you are OK with this arrangement get back to me with your payable name and address, I would wait to read from you ASAP.

Sounds fishy, i would defiantly wait to send the money back until after your bank has time to let the check clear.

Thats a classic scam, usually see it when your seeling a car and they tell you they will be sending you a check for $10,000 over the asking price and all you need to do is send back the differrence after you cash the check.
Your deposit their check, send them back the difference and by the time the bank figures out the original check was fraud you are now responsible for the $10,000 check you sent the buyer...No Good Mother FN Crooks!!!

A long time ago I fell for this scam when I was selling concert tickets. I am ashamed to admit it. Here is how it works the guy sent a US postal money order for over the asking price in my case quite a bit more. It was all too fishy anyways I told the guy that he overpaid me but he never responded back to me in fact the tickets were returned back to me. So I just sat on the money for a month and a half I then went out and spent the money a month after that my bank comes back and tells me its a fraudulent MO. Thanks lot Well Crapo it took you 2 1/2 months to find that out, what sucked is that I got charged the fees. Be careful out their, watch out for the African scams. I will gladly pay you for a hamburger tommorow for a hamburger today.
