Might want to place a call to the police department (wherever that guy is supposed to be from...). Maybe they can setup a sting.

Here you go....
Pls understand that i am quite okay with your prices,Payment would be made out by Check which will be issued in your name for easier cashing, Pls note that I have a shipper who handles my shipping, so you dont need to bother about shipping. I just need you to understand that the check you would be receiving would be an excess check, so all you have to do is , when you receive the check , take to your bank for cashing, then deduct your own part for the item then the remaining balance , i would give you my shipper's contact details to send it to via western union transfer, then after he has received payment, he would contact you to schedule a pickup arrangements.

If you are OK with this arrangement get back to me with your payable name and address, I would wait to read from you ASAP.
Regards,
martins georgge
It would be cool if somehow you could do the transaction and then report this person.I have got Emails like that alot and the promptly report them to yahoo/time warner ect... and I get very few of them now.People like this need to be exposed in anyway possible

Damn, alot of paranoid people here on STR. I've made several of these transactions. I've sold a frame, guitar amp, fork, electric guitar, and some used speedos last year this way. The surplus that I got to keep is well over $38,000,000.00

EDIT: Alright Andy scammed us here I didn't think you'd really fallen for it, but just in case there are some that may be tempted:

When I tried to sell some stuff on emptybeer, I had scammers send me those offers almost immediately. One guy had the nerve to try it again on a different item THE VERY NEXT DAY after I sent him a total nastygram in response to his first bogus offer.

That check will eventually bounce. The trouble is that your bank may accept it at first and show your balance to reflect it. After they try to collect on it, they will finally figure it out.... BUT, it will eventually bounce.

The worst part is that not only will you send them a bike, you would send them the difference from the check (which is what they are really after).

DO NOT fall for this under any circumstances. That check won't even work well for toilet paper.

Anybody knows how it ends? I got to the epilogue, and the author says the guy disappeared. Was he killed by the scammers?

Did he kill the wife since she wouldn't flip the coin???? -- oh wait, different story.
