I haven't heard of anything yet but why not? They are putting in a ton of Soccer fields, baseball fields, chess boards, tea gardens, etc... And they are putting in a skatepark, which is good to see. Why not something for us cyclist as well? The insurance wouldn't be any higher than a skatepark. Check out this link, they are looking for things to put in that park.
http://ocgp.org/civica/filebank/blob...sp?BlobID=2832 Why not ask for a Pump Track or a BMX type track. Check out this article IN MTBA about Pump tracks going into parks in Northern California. http://www.mbaction.com/ME2/dirmod.a...E1C545F8728C32 I think this would be really fun, and good for cycling in general. If they hear from enough of us they might actually take it seriously, that pretty much how cities work. I've already put in my request, if anyone else is into this, email contact@ocgp.org. (I'm not sure if this has been discussed or not already, but I just got inspired tonight thinking about it)

Whatever Neil, you know this would be fun http://bikemag.com/av/flash/bikeskills_pump_video/
I emailing the back and forth with the city planner for the park, we'll see what she says. If any of you are interested in this now is the type to email/write in. I think this would be a good thing for the area, and God knows we don't need another soccer field (nothing against the soccer fans here) Just think, if something like this is a success regionally, maybe other organizations will take notice and get interested in allowing mountain bikers on their grounds, like local ski resorts...... I know I'm dreaming ![]()

I tried to push a mtb skills park the last time my company looked at the plans and I got blank looks from people that just don't understand. The more emails and letters they get with examples, the better. Cost is also an issue as the budget for the plans as last drawn are way over the original estimates given by the designer. If you're going to give the city people any examples, don't show them crazy Whistler-type stuff or big dirt jumps and drops. Pictures of the Lacondeguy brothers thirty feet off the ground doing 360 tail-whips are not going to impress them, only scare them. I can't give out any plans for confidentiality reasons, but I will try and push for our piece when I get the newest stuff.

I would vote for a skills park. that would be sweet.
something along the lines of the colonnades in seattle would be excellent. pump track, skills area, trials, some small, reasonable jumps. just make sure that there is something for everyone ![]() |

I have received permission from the land owner to build a track at the Yorba Linda bowl if any of you have heard of that place. Its a little like sheep hill but in YL I grew up riding there from my house. There is already some dirt jumps set up but it needs a pump track and a BMX track. Maybe some ladders and skinny's. The owner son would be so happy.
A volunteer all ready came and installed a baseball diamond for free so the kids can play. Please contact me if you are interested in a local riding place. There is no XC climbing but you can loop the grounds it is 71 acres. Plenty of room to build a bike play ground. I will call the owner and set up a time we can meet him. I already told him about STR . A group called so cal horse riders has already come to the location and did a great job of clearing out the horse trails around the perimeter. From what the own told me. If this location sounds interesting to you please contact me Jason |

I'm on the planning team for this project and believe me, when it comes time for our voices to be heard on the park amenity package, I'll sound the alert.
I drive to Peters for my lunch rides every day so nobody wants to see MTB terrain in the Great Park more than I do. I'll keep the board posted...
