Julia's "First" DH/4X Session.../Thanks Dino and Lee

I just want to say thank you to Dino and Lee for working with Julia in Fontana today. Your time is much appreciated.

Julia told me it was fun and it was a great day.

I am sure Julia will get on the board tomorrow to say thank you herself. Over dinner she said how grateful she was of Dino and Lee and how much she learned today. It was a big day for her after a great dinner she's out.

Allison it was great to see you and Mechman out there today.

Brandon - It was so nice to meet you and I loved watching you and Julia ride on the track.

Julia has found wonderful mentors here on STR.

The following thread is about a 12 year old girl who is very dear to many of us!

Her name is Julia. She is the daughter of Elvia (aka Ezzyride)! She faithfully attends EVERY Fully Loop Ride (Thursday/Sunday) with her Mom! She *LOVES* to ride bikes! She is also a better rider than many people who will be reading this thread.

As of late, two knuckle heads (i.e. DinoBrown/Mtnbikerfred) put into her head the "idea" she may want to give racing a shot! XC...SD.....4X...DH.... It's up to her. In exchange for making the Honor Roll, we decided her "reward" would be to ride Fontana's DH course. How were we "supposed to know" she would to take us up on the offer!?!

XC- Ehh, not her thing right now!
SuperD- Thought it was "her thing" until she saw a few STR HERO'S walking their bikes up sections of the SD SUFFER-FEST course! No thanks!
Downhill- So as not to impede other riders, we rode "sections" that were off the course (i.e. the saddle area and the rock gardens that are located NORTH of the street). No doubt she is talented. No doubt I was very proud of her! No doubt she learned A LOT! Certain sections we must have ridden 20 times... Others- "SHE" chose to ride (2,3,4) different lines! While I did have a wonderful time, I was disappointed (in myself) for "short changing" her from the DH experience she was expecting. Next time, it may be better to lead her around the Fontana DH course on a non-race weekend!
4X- OMG! After watching Lee, Ricky and Brandon whoop some a$sH on the 4X course, I asked her if she wanted to give it a shot. She said "OK." After one run, she asked me if "I" wanted to try it again. I told her "OK." We must have ridden that track 20 times! She loved it!!!!

Unexpected Surprise: Today, I witnessed "firsthand" the invisible bond between parent and child. Love... Joy... Happiness... Sacrifice... Support... Worry... Fanning the flames of passion (i.e., biking)! I saw it all! Thank you Ladies!

Surprise #2- Elvia was SMILING all day long. I take that back. She was GLOWING at the sight of her daughter tearing up various sections of the Fontana race course. She's probably still smiling...

Don't worry! She will get the chance to try out the DEMO 8. Like I said, her STR skills instructor's (of which you are one) can take her back on a non-race weekend!

Pato- The past few months, you have been almost "MECHMANN-LIKE" with the Dino insults! I am impressed!

if anyone wants lessons on how NOT to ride.. give me a call.. But if your looking for lessons on how to race correctly give Julia a holler.

Its great to see the really young enjoying the sport at this level. I wish I could have started sooner!

And a big THANKS to Dino and Lee, things like this make me appreciate the sport so much more to know people always want to help.
