Default Crank Bros Mallets

I hear so much about the Eggbeaters and Candy pedals on here but is anyone running Mallets? Thinking about adding them to the new SS.

Thoughts on them?

Thanks

Jordan

i just wanted to keep the weight down on my superlight, so i am using eggbeaters. that is the only reason, well that and i have candy's on my dawg...so the mallets are collecting dust.

I had Mallets for a while. In the end I really hated them. After I disengaged a few times I trashed them. Actually knowing me I still have them somewhere but they will never go on another bike. I went back to the Shimano version.

Thumbs up

the acids are lighter and easier to unclip (so I heard). they have the platform design like the mallets too!! so it helps on the SS and DH thing!!

I'm definatly down for some mallets if anyone wants trades or anything (just at rei.com saw them and thought those are pretty sweet, then come here and theres a thread about them).

Jason, what fork is on your evo? Van or talas? I just picked up an 07 talas 36 from lee today (pics to come). Also what wheel is that?

The wheels are Tag wheels.http://www.tagwheels.com/default.aspx
The fork is van 36.

The seat post is a prototype Rase. It has 12 inches of adjustment.

I rode that bike up Holy Jim today. Not with the tag wheels. DTswiss 440 hubs on the tag wheels are the same hubs I use on my DH bike.

I just got a set of the '07 Mallet M's for Christmas (after demoing those '08's - thanks Jason!). The '08's are sweet, but it's hard to argue with the prices the '07's are being cleared out at right now. And while the new ones are supposed to be stronger, the weight is the same.

I'd been riding Candy SL's for the past 2 years. They were hard to clip out of for me, but the Mallet's are much better. True, the Mallets are a bit heavier, but it's not a huge difference and I like the added stability.

My only gripe so far with Crank Bros pedals is that, based on riding other people's pedals, I suspect that there's some inherent variance from one set to the next right from the factory, making some easier to clip and and out of than others. Maybe they need to come with a label that says "your results may vary."

Default Go to the path Tell them RacinJason sent you .

They have a limiter supply of the new mallets.
They are not easy to get.

Tell Tani Jason sent you. Call before to make sure they have some still in stock.

Does the seat work like the gravity dropper? Is it better or worse?

The g d only has 4 inches of movement.
This one can move 12. Its cool . It just needs some of the tolerances changed and it will be great.

awesome, how do I get to be cool enough to demo stuff?

BTW I am so close to finishing my evo. I've been too busy paying off the frame to get new parts. Just looking for some clipless pedals like these and a new gear shifter and I think I am set and ready for the full evo expreience.

Do the 08 mallets with the new pins grip any better than the 07s with the plates?

racin/chumbaJason, I totally think I might have seen you and your EVO at whiting ranch a little while before the fires.

Didn't have those wheels but it was the same color and I remember noticing it because I had just heard about chumba and thought it was def. the coolest bike I'd seen on the trail that day.

If you didn't ever ride whiting then I'm probably mistaken, but the bikes looked similar, think it had a 36 on there too.
