whoa, that's heavy. The heavy part is you are coach, and still married!!

I've done a couple of XTERRA's and the CAF athletes are mind blowing. I remember one dude with one leg that was just shredding the downhills on the bike, and another guy with one foot that was kicking my ass running! I hadn't really expected or known that I would be racing with CAF racers, but it was humbling and inspiring all at the same time. Pretty cool stuff!

Ironman Kona? You go girl!!

Wow, what a great story and I have to meet you two. Having had my share of addictions and dealing with alcoholics my entire life I know what an accomplishment you two have made. My hat is off to you two! I also know about tri's and the detirmenation it takes to do one, and how difficult an Ironman is. I'm also an Ultracyclist, doing rides in excess of 200 miles I know the training and the pain you have to endure. Your wife is a BADARSE!

Go Tracey! good luck! overcoming obstacles is life, but this is on the extreme side. trying is more than most would even start with- what you're doing is giving hope.

...by the way, watch out for the little (5' 9" at most) blond lady also with one lower leg of carbon fiber (sorry, i don't know the proper name for the carbon leaf-spring thing)- she's a swimming friend of mine at masters (swimmers 21+) and she kicks some major azz in the pool- I can even imagine her in a tri! (no, i don't know her name she just swims with our group and kicks all azz) the amazing part is watching her swim and seeing the ability to overcome the longitudinal balance that's required for swimming. amazing to see, even for a life long swimmer (90% of my life)

again, go Tracey!

If I may ask, does she run platforms or clipless? Were there any mods that had to be done to the bike at all?

The path to complete an Ironman is hard in its own right. The path away from alocholism and from a failed suicide is truly inspirational. I hope God continues to bless you and your wife.

Tracy, go get that finishers medal and wear it with pride, you have more than earned it!!
