I in fact do not own a SS, but if you still would like to give me crap I can take it...but for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.. , this of course is all dependent on when the ride is

If you need any extra parts to get your SS running, shoot me a pm. I pieced my bike together using extras and depending on your needs, I might have it lying around.
Thanks for the offer.

I'm going to convert my 1x9 HT to a 1x1.
All I need is a 36T 110BCD chainring, a 21T cog and a spacer kit. I'm hoping this will be the magic gear so i'm holding off on the tensioner purchase.
Hopefully only a $60 investment and I can switch back when I feel like throwing the bike off a cliff.

Good, as long as we're on the same page. Should I bring a box of tissues?

Poll?

I don't know of anyone throwing up going up SJ but that is just what I heard...........
I ate a big dinner and then went riding. Eating like a normal person would have prevented the pukage. It's not that tough of a ride.

Hmm, as bad luck would have it, I have none of that. Once you see my ss, it'll make sense.

Duan, check out these sites.

This one explains it:
http://www.63xc.com/toddp/halflink.htm

This one calculates it based on your chainstay length:
http://eehouse.org/fixin/formfmu.php?

I originally wanted to keep my 34 up front and go 20 rear, but then I'd need a half link according to the calc.

Just in case your magic gearing doesn't work. Just use your derailleur to tension the Chain Steve. You can limit the RD movement using the set screws and a piece of shifter housing.

I'm going all the way baby!
No rear derailler.
I'm going to drop a 1lb off my HT in the process.

The Loop - We could just as easily do it on a Thursday night. The goal is for us n00b SSers to get together for a more trail-oriented ride during the day. After all, variety is the spice of life, or the sampler at the local brewpub. Whatever.

Aliso - Smarter minds STRONGLY suggested that this trail is not ideal for a SS climb, especially for SS n00bs like me. I can't say I disagree.

Due to lack of money and available Middleburn chain rings for cheap, it'll actually have 18 gears.

A ride will be posted tonight - most everyone will be happy! Except for maybe 1x1clyde

I'm just confirming a date with Mr. Foo
