Sadly, I'm using my BlackFlys prescription sunglasses for riding. They are a bit heavy, not well ventilated, and better used for casual use. I have tried to convert some older Oakley Twenties to prescription but the lenses were too curved to do so. (Yeah, I'm blind, thanks mom and dad) Any recommendations for a decent, light weight, reliable, decent frame I can convert?

I wear Oakleys... in fact I have two pairs. In case I lose or break a pair. I wish I could get goggles with RX lenses, that would be cool! I have heavy Oakley Penny frames. So I would like to get a lighter and more "sports" orientated pair as well.

I was going to order some Randolph's but the style is geared more to shooting sports.
I checked out "Rudy Projects" over at the College of Optometry and will be ordering right after my exam. They have a few frames in the dispensing dept. I'm getting a few sets of lenses (different shades of color). To me, they are lightweight. Carbon fiber finish looks REAL nice. ![]() http://www.rudyprojectusa.com

I have used Bolle Vigilante's for years with prescription insert. The insert can be used in a number of ther frames. The Vigilante comes with 3 sets of lenses and retails for a round $70. The 'scrip insert is extra.

I wish I could wear contacts.... not going to happen with my type of astigmatism. Bummer, it would make my life so much easier.

Less than $100 for my scrip. The Bolle insert is like a pair of child size glasses with no temples. It is flexible plastic and I think it runs about $40 but then you have to get the lenses/scrip fom a doctor. More $.

I couldnt see paying big bux for Oakleys and not using the hi quality lens, so I bought some cheap knockoffs and had prescription lenses made for them. Looks the same, lots cheaper!

I got my Rudys here.
http://www.sportrx.com/default.asp The customer service is great. I went with a pair that has interchangable lenses, kinda like Smiths; clear, amber and brown. It cost a little more, but I need to see while I'm riding. ![]() |

I wear Oakley Perscription Glasses with Tranistional Lenses. I don't have the money to buy perscription SG's, so I risk my everyday Glasses on the trail. Only problem I have with tem is the occasional teary eyes when travelling DH at speed
. Blurred vision on DH can be dangerous. The glasses are snug on the noggin' and I've never had them fall off (I've been wearing them for 3 years now and have done everythign from hiking to basketball in them). They work, though not the best choice. ![]() |

There are 3 types of MX goggles with that have rx lenses.
One is a clip on that you can use with any goggle. The other is a complete lens that goes in selected goggles. and the third one is a brand that sells yuo the whole set up. I dont remember the names but they advertise in MotoX action mag . They are not that expensive either. Check it out when you have time let me know what you think. I will look into them to because I need them. |
