Default Baldy opening for DH?

I read on another forum that Mt. Baldy is in the process of meeting with some people to discuss opening their mountain for DH. \/

I don't know if it is ok to say which forum it's posted in.

Let me know if it is and I'll post it here.

Any mountain bike site is a good site in my opinion. Go ahead and post it! (don't really believe in censorship as you can see)

I think you're talking about this one

Hi everyone. I am one of the two guys that are spearheading this effort. What we are doing is starting a new non profit, LLC organization for gravity riders (though we are inclusive of all cyclists, we feel that XC and other disciplines are well represented by IMBA, CORBA, etc. ). We feel that unless Mt. Baldy and it's bike operations are managed correctly it will be shut down as there is going to be a flood of downhillers going there, cutting unauthorized trails, etc. The forest service is aware of Mt. Baldy and they are watching.

We have spoken to Mt. Baldy and they have agreed to see us and allow us give a presentation. We are basically looking for lift access, and the ability to cut and maintain trails. *There is much more to this, and as soon as the name is decided on and the organization officially establiched we will have a website with e-mail and discussion board so that EVERYONE can voice their opinions and concerns.

We want to stress that we are not just a bunch of irresponsible adreneline junkies looking for a lift. We are about responsible riding. There is so much going on that it would take many posts to lay it all out. But if you are interisted or concerned please PM me, e-mail me, or drop by ridemonkey and read the threads.

Also we want to stress that this is not restricted to one board. We know that we are not the only riders in so cal so we are trying to get the word out. We do ask that you not call Mt. Baldy as they are getting flooded with calls and it's easier if we work with them in a professional manner. We also ask that no one go up there to ride DH or free ride. Any illegal trail building or riding will not only kill our efforts with Mt. Baldy, but the forest service as well.

We are currently working with: Mt. Baldy Ski Lifts, IMBA, The Forest Service and others. We have two lawyers already on staff or on retainer, we have in IMBA certified trail boss, and 3 people who have done this type of work before. One was the person responsible for making North Star's bike park a reality. If you want to help or be involved, please let me know.

We will be having an informal meeting/ meet & greet after teh Mt. Wilson ride at the BBQ. Location and directions will be posted later today.

Thank you for your time.

This is a great opportunity for the DH'ers. i like to ride in the area, on sunset peak, i used to ride there 3 times a week when i raced, it would definitely be great to have more of a mountain biker scene close to home *

Southridge, Fontana: 7 miles away
Mount Baldy: 20 miles away
