Default Santiago Oaks Trail Closures::SAVE THIS DATE: Feb. 6th

The Report is back!!! The Report on the trail recommendations at Santiago Oaks Regional Park is finally done. You need to be there....the County will be discussing what trails are going to be closed and which ones will remain open...(a little bird told me it looks bad for us Users of the park!!!)

There is a tentative date set for the public to view the report done on Santiago Oaks Regional Park. At this meeting they will be taking the Users of the parks opinions as to what the Report wants to do to our trail system there...

The meeting has a tentative date of Feb. 6th...sometime in the evening...at Santiago Oaks Regional Park Ranger Station.

I will keep you updated when I get further info on it...I just wanted to give a heads up so you can save the date.

We are going to need to show lot's of faces and come ready to express your feelings on what they are going to do to us!!!

Sounds like i'd better get some rides in at Oaks before the park becomes strictly a 3 Bitches out-and-back.

Didn't the mountain bikers put a lot of work in to the park after the fires? If so, why are people so ungrateful...

I rarely ride at the oaks, so I am not aware of all the problems that there may be...

I will be really bummed if they close the Weir Canyon Loop or Chutes trail. I rode Chutes for my first time last month (I'm a newbie)...it was awesome, I'd hate to see it close. I will be at the meeting on Feb. 6th.

Going by things that were said at the trails advisory meeting a bunch of us went to, i would bet that Chutes is in the crosshairs. Effed up.

YES...SHARE and many others including cyclists, hikers and equestrians were out there helping repair fences, patrolling, digging holes, etc....now it looks like they don't want us there at all...

Thank you VERY much for this thread. Santiago Oaks is a gem of a regional park within the crown of the Orange County Parks System. It would be a sad loss for all its users (including equestrians, hikers, and bikers) should it close.

I will make sure that I am there to express my opinion, and I hope that these trails shall remain open.

I'll try to get in/out of work early to be there. If not, I'll send John alone

I'm not aware of the issues at hand/trail conditions though, as I haven't riden there for quite a while. Can anyone shed a bit of light, so we don't all show up a blind?
