Just some simple guidelines to follow. Most of it is simple common sense.

Be respectful.
Your posts should be constructive. Any member posting for the sole purpose of increasing their post count will have the posts deleted.
Corrections to other’s information should not be condescending in nature. This is a forum for the exchange of ideas and information. You are expected to remain civil and express your thoughts in a mature manner.
Threads are expected to be kept on the original topic. If you want to discuss another subject, feel free to create a new thread in the proper forum.
Posting pornography (ANYTHING over PG13) is prohibited.
You must have a post count above 25 to post a for sale ad.
Anything deemed to be SPAM or SPAM in nature by the admin or moderators will be deleted. Any account used for the sole purpose of advertising a product, company, or service will be deleted.
Any posts or threads about riding known illegal trails will be deleted.
The socaltrailriders.org administrator and moderators reserves the right to edit or delete any post/thread we deem necessary.

How can one distinguish between a legit post and one made simply to raise the count? I'm not trying to be facetious or anything. I mean, technically, one could make the arguement that Rob's post above is so short and "unconstructive" that it might exist only to raise his count. (And, I'm not saying it is, or anything.) What are the criteria?

all posts are legit, in my opinion. whether it is to add something constructive or comical, it's all good. Rob's been with STR from the get-go so i've seen his # of posts grow, but i also have to say that i've never felt any of his posts didn't have some sort of merit. if you feel like you have something to say, go for it, that's what this whole forum deal is all about. i think we all have known each other because we contribute and ride together. my # of posts is up there, but i'm here all the time and like to add my 2 cents. sometimes people post things that i don't agree with and i know some people disagree or don't even like me, but i feel we all agree to disagree. as long as you don't flat out disrespect anyone wrongfully, it's a legit post.

Armando is totally correct on this. I've been on several public forums before and have seen plenty of post whores at their worst and if I ever see that happen here I'll either a) delete some posts or b) bust out the ban stick.

Dont really want to discourage people from posting though. Even a post with a few words can have some meaning to it.

Note though that something which bugs me on another forum (which is to remain anonymous) is people posting threads that read "paging bob" or "paging fred." Private message functionality is there for a reason!

Thanks to gurp for the good question though. Hopefully this helps out people who were wondering the same thing.

j/k man, but seriuosly I just wanted another post under my belt

I do have a lot of posts on here, only other forum I have more posts on is a car forum (but cars is what I work on for a living). I'm not trying to defend my post or implying yours was an attack at me or anything of the sort, but like Armando said I was one of the original members of STR and know a lot of people who post on here. I think you'll find the majority of my posts are either spreading my knowledge of bikes since I work on them a lot, or are about setting up rides......and of course a few will be just stupid and possibly making fun of a buddy

Now that FoShizzle guy, we gotta keep a watch on that dude!

yah what armondo said!like i've said about the other website about bikes ,there was alot of bickering and name calling, it's counter productive. is there a prize for the most posts ? whats the dif?

Well, personally, I feel like I'm more of a man when my post count is high. And, if you ever see me ride, you'll know why I need reasons to feel like I'm more of a man.

George on some truck forums and photography forums that I am on you have to have over a certain amount of posts to sell something. That would keep spam completely out of the for sale section atleast.
