hola
i'm building that b17 frame up that i got at Adrenaline... and i keep changing my mind on what i wanna do with it... it went from 1x9, to ss w/ suspension fork, but now i feel like doing a full rigid ss. what rigid fork(s) would you guys and gals recommend for the '06 (i think) Marin B-17 frame? thanks in advance -Dan The Man

no, i'm not.. lol
i'm gonna have a susp fork anyhow, because i'll probably interchange alot of stuff... but i was considering a rigid fork just to mess around on... i never really thought about the aluminum issue... doh!

The aluminum frame will flogg your backside, but I don't think it will affect your arms shoulders as much as the fork design/material. But having a steel fork on an aluminum frame will look like Oprah walking on Kiera Knightley's legs.

I've got a Bonti carbon with VERY little use I could sell you. Let me know if interested. It's 26"
I really like it on my 1x1, but I think I'll be selling that soon, so will be getting rid of the 26" rigid fork also (if I get another SS in the far future it'll be 29").

I ran a carbon rigid on my aluminum SS and hated it. Anyhoot, I'll sell it to you CHEAP!! I paid $185 for it ($170 + $15 shipping) but I'll let it go to you cheap just to get rid of it.
It has seen less trail time than Allison's and I'll beat her price!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I was stoked on trying it. It was basically "an itch I had to scratch", in terms of I wanted to try it just to see what it was like. I knew there was a good chance I wouldn't like it. I just didn't like the way it felt and my wrists couldn't handle it.

ignore the cliches about Aluminum.....it is one of the lame generalizations on MTB websites....people forget that its "implementation" that is most important. A crap steel build is still crap, etc....gimme a friggin break...rigid is rigid too. If one believed MTB web posting one would believe that a steel or ti bike with a steel, ti, or carbon fork would ride like a 5" FS bike....NOT
to answer your question, i recommend the Vicious Cycles fork...not burly, but very nice.....works for me anyway on my 26er fully rigid with v-brakes with a pre 2000 frame |

Just think of the bright side: you'll get to chant "I'm so indie!" as your fingers go numb...
