These are the ones I bought.

http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/171...num-Pedals.htm

There is no easy setting if I am reading the manual right. They just have one setting. I guess the retention isnt dependent on the spring tension because of the design.

I just got done riding with them. I love them. I went out for a little ride over at calveras lake in carlsbad for about an hour. I didnt stay long because its still really muddy and not much fun, but i didnt fall once. I cant believe the difference going up hill. The shoes fit perfectly and i didnt even have to adjust the cleat. I just installed them onto the shoes and they were in the right spot. I didnt have any pains or accidental unclips.

I have to say also that I love price point. I ordered these yesterday morning and they were waiting for me at 1 pm today when I got home. that kicks ass!

There is an easy (15º) release and a hard (20º) release. It depends upon which cleat is on which shoe. One cleat has a little dot or circle or somethin. You probably want to start with the easy release.

Check the manual. If the dots on on the right, both shoes will unclip easier (or harder). If the dots are on the left, both shoes will unclip the harder (or easier). I forget which is which.

Dots on the right. Also check the fit of the shoes on the pedals when you're not wearing them to see if the lugs on the soles are getting in the way as you ride and/or try to unclip. If so, you may need to cut or grind the soles a bit.

I did my first ride this morning (street ride) on some new Crank Bros Mallets, after using Candy's for the past 2 years. I was surprised at how much easier these were to clip in and out then my Candy's were when they were new. I suspect there may be some slight differences from batch to batch of CB cleats, but I also chalk it up to the fact that my shoes were new when the Candy's were new, but the shoes are pretty worn now so there's nothing left to hang up on the pedal as I'm unclipping.

I bought the Mallets because I'm still a wuss about unclipping in sketchy situations and I wanted a bigger platform for those times. But I am getting better about staying clipped. It just takes time and practice...and a few tip-overs!

There are many of us with that same story....make sure to check the tension on your pedals...loosen a bit if you can...we teach people to use clipless with their bike on an indoor trainer....

Once you get use to them you can never go back to platforms!

I found that I had clearance issues with the vibram soles on my lakes. They are pretty thick soles. After trimming them down they worked great.I used white out on the soles and unclipped a few time to see where the interference was.I use the Candys.

One more word of advice is to try to make it a habit to unclip when the crank arm is at it's lowest point (leg straight). It's much easier to twist your whole leg at the hip then it is to twist your lower leg at the knee.

I wouldn't worry about it. I plan to go clipless on my SS and I'm expecting to taste the dirt.

Re: Grinding soles:

Crank Bros pedals should come with some funny little pieces of black plastic. Put them between cleat and shoe so you dont have to grind.

If you really want to grind, use the homonym!

Yea I dont have any clearence problems. I didnt even have to adjust the cleat at all. I just put it on the shoe and it feels great when I ride. Im going for a little longer of a ride today. we will see what happens.

I feel your pain. I went clipless about 6 months. My first ride I found myself falling over tryong to get up a curb on. I had been on the bike for 2 minutes when it happened. It has taken time, but I can get in and out of them no problems now. Welcome to the clipless club.

I got my first set of clipless pedals today and some shoes to go with them. I installed everything and put my shoes on.

I read the directions on how to clip in and out and got on my bike.

I cliped in my right foot, went to start riding, lost my balance and fell right over on my right side.

I got a little bit of road rash from the fall and I wasnt even riding

I got going the second time though
