i just put x-0 twist grip shifters on my xc race bike and the are awesome. quick shifting and precise. i'll never go back to thumb shifters. in fact i'm going to put grip shifters on my other xc bike.

i have used x-7 and x-9's and they are good too. i never had a problem with them. but now it's grip shifters all the way.

I have X7's on my 08 Trance and Shimano (dont know the exact model) on the old hardtail and both have worked great. Most of the people I talked to, before I bought the new bike, suggested I go with the Sram stuff. It was a good choice, as I like Sran shifters more so than the Shimano shifters.

I used Shimano for years, then I tried Sram about 2 or 3 years ago. Sram is so superior, IMO, that I don't se myself going back to Shimano.

SRAM it is!! I was pretty much convinced when people said it is less maintinence.

Now I just have to decide whether or not I need the X9 shifters or just settle with the X7's? Also which 9 speed SRAM cassette(b/c they're generally cheaper) to go with? I Guess chain might be important too.

Thanks
