I rode laps around the shop on a Baby Blue Intense 5.5 for over an hour. I had a pretty sweet loop going, then realized I just put about 100 carpet miles on a new bike. I felt guilty and put the bike back on the rack."

j/k my only mail order experience was great, got my pedals in just a day or two after ordering. I have driven down to just have a free Brat and a beer or two.
Why would you think that BB stands for Beyond Bikes?? I never said I worked there.

I have to really reevaluate my previous experience at BB now. Last couple times I went there, I was desperate for a few parts to complete my build, and they were the only game in town that had the parts and their prices were competitive with internet prices. I noticed the previous mechanic that worked there no longer worked there. I had a pleasant experience buying the parts, but it was pretty simple, so it was pretty hard to mess up. Last night, I called to see how much it would cost to remove two crown races, and the guy was like don't worry about it. Went in today, had no problems, and they did it with a smile for me. I have to admit, I'm starting to like the place again.

How was their inventory of built bikes? I'm really looking to ride a couple of different SC's before I but this time so that I can find out whether lg or med is the size for me. Specifically I'm looking at a Blur 4x or Nomad.
Thanks.

BB is not a Santa Cruz dealer. As far as SD county goes, Bicycle Warehouse is the only shop I know of that is a SC dealer.

I believe Switchback Cyclery (site supporter) sells SC. They're in OC, but may be worth it to check 'em out anyway.

I'll have to do that. The SC dealer down here doesn't have any rides on hand (it's a fairly small store) but I've also heard that SC is notorious about not putting out the bikes quick enough so I may just be SOL.

The Bicycle Warehouse in Vista has a Heckler, a couple Nomads and a Blur LT all in stock. You can test ride them all there. Tell them I sent you.
