Default BikeToberfest Sale Sat 10/13

Just rode home from work, dropping by my LBD crack dealer...er BB. Got to preview some of the sale stuff for tomorrow, but it isn't quite like their Aug 20% off sale. They were still setting up for tomorrow, but just about everything will have some amount of mark down. Specific signs included:
10% Tires, Hydration packs,
12% Forks
20% Clearance clothing rack, sunglasses
40% ~60 pairs of MTB & road shoes (Spidi, Adidas, Pearl Izumi, 661)
Varied% number of individually marked down components, frames, complete builds, & such

I gave these guys another shot. Ordered Avid BB7's over phone. They did a price match way quickly, and the order arrived when they said it would. I still have to work to get someone's attention when I walk into the store, but their price match policy is great.

Prices are great for some stuff that most other local shops don't carry. However, I have an issue with this British mechanic that works there or used to work there. I bought a new Marz. fork from them and had them install it on my bike. I should've realized if I wasn't riding an Intense/Ellsworth/Turner bike, that I would get crappy service. I complained of a clunking on the fork. Had him take the bike and ride it for a day. He tells me no clunking and tells me my rear shock is blown and isn't holding air. So I order a new shock through them that he says will be there in a day. Week and a half later, I cancel my order because I realized my rear shock was NOT blown. I also come to realize they hadn't even ordered the new shock. Shady.

i went in because its 7 minutes away from my house. needed some new grips before a ride. good deal on some grips i hardly ever see carried online (sunline lock ons) and got some cleaning supplies while i was there. they were kinda busy, but the dude there (same guy i think was mentioned.. with the sleeve) was cool, and would let me know he'd be right with me. rang me up fast and got me out of there without having to wait 20 minutes for the transaction to complete (like another shop in SD).

haven't made any major purchases there yet. gonna get there next week to pick up a bashguard.

Kerry's the man! Wish those guys would stop walking around with the headsets on. I keep talking back to them, then I realize that they're not talking to me.

Beyond Bikes is great and if you can walk in with $$$$ and if Mike the owner is around? Your in for a great deal. I used to work there from July - August of 06. If it wasn't for a promotion at my current job I still would be been there Heckling Beau and Nate Dawg, Arron !! Oh yea... Scary Kerry he's always getting crushed by me anytime I walk in. LOL

Zack and Francesca are the one's I always ask for usually. Good People and really want to take care & support our local riders. One of these days I'm going to catch the Pacman there on a Saturday Hmmm???? Maybe I'll have pick up my Fox Fork wipers not tomorrow but another day. I'll have to think about the need of this item 1st.

Ride On!!!

review revisited:

just went down there this morning to pick up a bashguard.

very friendly and prompt service. they honestly made me feel like i shop there all the time, yet it was only my second time in.

when i'm ready for a serious upgrade to a FS, Beyond will be my first shop to visit.

Default BeyondBikes.com

Just finished some internet shopping. Scored new raceface next xc riser bars & thompson stem. Searched approx. 9 internet sites and ended up purchasing at greenfishsports & airbomb, due to best prices.

But I noticed some great deals were at Beyond Bikes. Unfortunately, heard they run a shady operation, credit card fraud, poor customer service and unreliable product delivery. Just a rumor, but enough to keep me away from the site.

Any truth to the rumor? Anyone purchase lately or regularly from Beyond Bikes?

I've heard some of the things about the credit card deal. AFAIK that stuff's all cleared up. Their store/HQ is about 8 miles away from me, so I go there often. I've always been pleased with them.

Also check out Beyond Bikes in the bike shop reviews forum.

All the problems you listed were taken care of. I too got my credit card stolen, but it's been resolved.

As for poor customer service, maybe from the OLD mechanic but the sales staff here is top notch and rock solid. The service department has a new manager so expect good things from that department in the future.

As for poor order delivery, I can't speak on that. If it's in stock you'll get it. But people order stuff that's out of stock all the time, then wonder why they have to wait for it. The website says whether it's in stock or not.

And, Air Bomb and BB are the same company.

I just got my Thomson stem from them about a week ago, and had no problems what so ever. 1st time I've ordered from them, but, won't be the last. They seem to have a great selection. One of the few who had the size I was looking for (90mm/10 deg). I live in Oceanside and my order came in 2 days (normal UPS ground).

Don't know if you've tried http://www.blueskycycling.com/ but I've had good experience with them, good prices, fast delivery and when they didn't have something in stock they called me and gave me options.

Default Yes there are problems

I was going to buy a new bike there but found out it already had a 100 miles on it (and they wouldn't sell it to me at a discount)

"I'm at work at BB. It's raining and nobody wants to brave the weather, so far. It's 10:45 and the phones have only rang 3 times.

I rode laps around the shop on a Baby Blue Intense 5.5 for over an hour. I had a pretty sweet loop going, then realized I just put about 100 carpet miles on a new bike. I felt guilty and put the bike back on the rack."

j/k my only mail order experience was great, got my pedals in just a day or two after ordering. I have driven down to just have a free Brat and a beer or two.
