Default Bike storage problems solved!

So I just picked this up from my shop today, its a Saris bike bunk and I would strongly recommend it to anybody who desires a better way to store a couple of bikes indoors. It manages to make my bikes look like they're on display rather than just shoved into a corner, stops me from dinging one bike with another, looks pretty cool, and requires no mounting hardware.

My track bike/commuter is a 56 cm and my mtb is a 19.5", I probably wouldn't recommend it as strongly to someone with two bigger bikes, although more room can be had by facing the bikes in opposite directions.

Either way, here's a shot of my bikes on the rack/stand, whatever you'd prefer to name it.

p.s. I'm not advertising I swear, I'm just pretty happy with my purchase.

something similar and didn't really care for it. If you have two 29" or 700cc wheeled bikes it can be cumbersome to use.

Sorry JMO

I have something similar also, but in the era of mtb's with hydroformed, curvy top tubes and creative shock mounts, it's getting harder to make some of those stands work. As long as your bike(s) can fit though, they're great.

dutch, does the back of the stand and the bottom of the feet have soft protectors to prevent marking of the walls and floors?

We've got two very similiar racks that my wife purchased at Target. I can't tell on your model, but our style has independent RH / LH arms. It makes it very easy to hold "girl style" bikes and MTB's with suspension goodies hanging under the top bar. I had to add a little padding to perfect the idea. Thankfully, mine are in the garage....

as others have said, i have one too. works well for traditional frames and older ones where cable lines run above top tube. Most all my bikes now have less "traditional" front triangles and gear/ hydro brake lines running under top tube so not so great anymore. glad it working for you as most def saves some space. just be sure to explain to your wife why it is very important to you that she stops her car before crashing into it in the garage (spoke from experience)

Saw something like this on craigslist (Orange Co.) yesterday. Looks about the same. If anyone is interested, $29 seems reasonable (I promise you it is not my listing): http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/bik/527206800.html

If you need to store more than two bikes, the following rack may be worth a look! http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=2628

Ya, but you're a college student. I'm an overpayed government employee who is planning on all his kids getting full scholarships.

And for the record, I only have 7 bikes and don't know how to ride any of them well. So, you know, I'm basically over compensating.

I got this one from Performance.

It has adjustable arms so it can accomodate pretty much any bike.

Are there any problems with storing your bike vertical like that (suspension leakage, etc)? That IS a killer deal for $40.

yes it does, there's two thick foam rings around the metal pole, one above the top bike mount, and one in between the top and bottom ones.

I could definitely see myself running into problems with less traditional shaped frames, as the left and right arms do not adjust independently.

i've always been curious how the rim and adjacent spoke would be affected by hanging the bike by it's front wheel? and if it puts any undue stress on any other part of the bike's front end.

There's no issue at all.
