Default New Helmet Cam-Sample Video

I shot a sample video today at Lake Hodges. It is short, as the batteries were low and the camera shut itself off. The angle is a bit too high as well. Sunday it was too low, today it was too high.

Oh well. I'm still getting it figured out. I'm happy with the picture quality though. It was a bit cloudy and the light wasn't very good, but the image is still pretty crisp.

In the video, you see Spec Ed's ugly mug first. He's telling me the camera angle looks perfect (oops). Then you see Mark/Sladnas head down the trail in front of me and fall off a bridge while crossing it. The water was about 2" deep, so I just rode through it. 29er power baby!!

So, the video is pretty crappy since the angle is too high and the batteries died, but at least you get an idea of the video quality.

I'll have to show you--which means you'll have to come out to a group ride.

Singletrack that drops down at the end of the easement road. Comes out on the new switchbacks. Also the beginning of the trail that leads to Bernardo Mt.

Cool vid.

What's up with the background noise? It sounds like an engine idling or something. There's a gotta be a way to get rid of it.

Ya, I was wondering the same thing. I'll have to figure out how to get rid of it. I wonder if the water-proof/protective case it sits in has something to do with it.

Click the "Mute" when uploading videos then add music or leave it silent....

So, at this point there is no helmet cam that has high enough resolution that we can watch it on our TV, say a 42" plasma? Just wondering if all the footage we get can only be enjoyed in this "mini" version on Youtube or your Ipod. It sure would be nice to get a lot of footage and make a nice long Epic DVD with music, but it does not look possible unless you mount a real video camera on your helmet. Which would be too heavy.

Sounds like some sort of ground loop interfering with the mic. Since the mic doesn't seem to be that effective, it's not really a big deal. I can help you edit some of your clips to remove the audio, add music, etc. when the time comes if you want. Of course, you'll figure all that out along the way too.

Wouldn't that be nice To really enjoy on your big screen you'd want at least 720p resolution, which won't come to a compact video cam like this for a while in my opinion.

Close as you can get w/o a "large" camera

It's the narrow lens. You need a wide angle lens to get a better shot while moving. They are working on one but the company says it won't be out until after our Moab trip. I emailed them yesterday.

Ya, I'm still figuring out the camera, so the sound editing will have to wait a wee bit.

My digi does the same thing. Its the bullet proof housing with the sensitive mic. If you get some of that foam stuff they cover mic's with and put that between your camera and the the housing I think it will be OK. I was thinking about that after you left last weekend.

It seems like a lot of people add music over the top since the sound quality isn't the best. That's what I plan to do once I start to make videos that are worth sharing. Like I said, the video above was just so others could check out the picture quality.

Mark--we'll talk more at Daley today. I'd appreciate some help/tutoring on these new fangled computer thingies.
