Default Hobie Mirage Pedal Kayaking

Anyone interested in trying pedal kayaking? I have been doing it for almost a year and it's really fun. We are having our first ever Southern California Hobie Mirage Kayak Regatta on Saturday, March 29, 2008. You might want to demo one at Southwind Kayaks or at Dana Point Jet Ski.

P.S. I ride a Turner RFX during the weekdays. If anyone is interested in riding after work, send me an email. On the weekends, I'm on my Hobie Mirage Adventure Island. It's such a blast! If you love biking, you got to give pedal kayaking a try. I'm planning on installing a pair of Crank Brothers pedals on my Hobie Mirage drive system.

You get a thanks just for riding an RFX. I've never tried the pedal kayaking but the one time I tried the simple one I couldn't believe how sore my upper body was afterwards. Great AB workout too.

I did some regular Kayaking in Oahu and it was a blast. Since then I've wanted one for fishing and for an upperbody workout. These Hobie pedal Kayaks look like they would be fast with both pedal's and Oars.

Thanks for posting this!

The Hobie is the best for fishing..You can keep moving and hold position while casting and reeling in the fish.

We have had a Hobie pedalling tandem and two pedalling singles (and two sail kits) for several months. I agree, they work really well for cyclists. The thought of installing clipless pedals is a revalation. Why not! Use them with Lake or Shimano SPD compatible sandals! Check the thread diameter, though, I remember seeing a small hole in the back side of the crank. I've never had the pedals out. I won't put my cycling shoes in that much water intentionally. Splashing through a water crossing on a ride is the name of the game, but walking around in a foot of water getting everything set is different.

I would like to know more about your Hobi Regatta.

Hey Cedric,

That would be great if you can join us for our 1st Hobie kayak regatta in So Cal on March 29, 2008. Hopefully, it will be a big success with more regattas to follow. We have 2 sponsors.

Cheers,
Kirk
