That was a great 50.27 minutes *

So much fun ... I recommend it to everyone. Really relaxed atmosphere and all. Just that damn sandy dowhills *

And dude, thanks for fixing my brakes ... *you saved me, as did Hector and Armanda with my pants *

it was good to see how a few people from here showed up: mtnbikerdude87 (Trung), TheFarLeft (Alex), Maxwell (with daugher, Lacey), & Hec and son bikers (Hector & Little Hector). *\/

everyone put out a great effort and got great times for their prospective age & category. *

Keep up the great work, and I'll see you guys on the next ride / race. *

I'll post some pix up when i get them \/

XC beginner 25-29. My 1st Sea Otter. Have you done it b4? I'm curious about the course. I've ridden Fort Ord and I'm wondering if it's the same.

Hey, Trung.... checked their website and it said 49.27.

You and I beat like half the other beginnner men ... that's with you taking it easy and me busting my lungs and eating the sand

Is there any chance you're going on the 30th?

Wow one minute faster, not bad.

There is a slight chance that I will do the one on the 30th. We are thinking about doing the 24 hrs of Idywild, so if that plan falls through then Ill be out there on the 30th.

24 hours ?!

talk about a slow time *

That's got to be some great fun... Let's hope you can come out to Southridge at the end of the month....

I figure I won't be able to convince my parents to take me to both, so I might as well just go to the last one... if only * [-o<

(Edit: not that they are unwilling to let me go to southridge ... my mom actually had a good time there. And so did my dog )

If only I hadn't turned in the wrong direction when I got to the fire road
Lucky I practiced those tight turns

You coming to any other of the spring fling races?
[-o<

BTW, you should head out here to do the Paseo / Backbone loop, with some other stuff mixed in. You could stop by my house for refreshments (and foot long sandwiches )

Default Fontana Fun!

Saturday, April 9th, was the first race of the SRC Spring Fling. Lacey entered it for her 2nd try at racing. Here's how she say's her race went.

I was just a little tired at the start of the race from my Dad waking me up at 6am. He said we needed to get there "early" to register. RIGHT! Instead of starting by myself,(I was the ONLY one entered in the B/W 13-18 class again) I got to start with all those crazy single speeders. Man, I don't see how they can go that fast with just one speed. It's CRAZY! There was a nine year old boy named Hector racing. It was his fourth or fifth time racing at Fontana. We traded spots thruout the race. He was a strong little "man"! After doing the Main Divide during my Counting Coup attempt, the climbs here were a little easier. On the down hills, I felt like I was able to go faster than before. That may be why I crashed a few times! I also had a chance to do my first "on the trail repair" of my bike. Going down one of the hills, I went into a bush, and my chain came off. I think I need to work on my downhill skills, because some of the steeper decents are still a little scary. When I saw Pat and my Dad, I knew I was close to the finish. All in all, I felt more comfortable this time. I had a few more crashes this time, I think that's why my time was a little bit slower than my first race. My finishing time was 1hour 26 min. I had a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to the next race on April 30th.

Lacey
