Default Your biggest upgrade for 2008!

Okay, since it's that time of year where most of us are either reminiscing over good/bad MTB moments of 2007 or looking forward to new challenges in 2008, I thought I'd post this question:

What is your biggest planned upgrade for 2008? I, like most mountain bikers, suffer from severe UGI constantly. However, I can only practically afford one big upgrade every year and I usually start thinking about it in January after 1. making sure I didn't get it for Christmas, 2. carefully saving part of my bonus, 3. counting on some sort of tax refund, and 4. dipping into the slush fund

So I'll go first. Since my 2007 major upgrade was a 5-Spot frame and the parts were mostly off my old bike, I need to accessorize it. My big upgrade will be:

- 2008 RS Pike w/ 20mm thru axle (Pushed of course)
- New wheelset: Hope Pro IIIs laced to Sun Singletracks

That should pretty much tap me out for the year But I'm sure I'll be just fine with what I got!

this will be it, and it will tap me out.

My new bike build...

i hope to complete it some time before the end of the year (funds allowing)

Yeah, I saw your post before. That looks like it's going to be one sweet rig!

I'd love to have multiple steeds in my quiver - someday, but not today...

Talking

Liposuction, tummy tuck, face lift, botox, personal trainer, anorexia, followed by osteoporosis. Oh, I don't think so. I will leave all of that to the gals in the OC......

After spending $20,000 + on bikes/bike stuff last year, I think I'll ride what I got and see if I can wear them out before I upgrade. Roger did buy me a new set of DT Swiss 5.10 wheels for Christmas (so I can go tubless on my DH bike), so I guess I can consider that my upgrade for 2008, eh???

P.S. I want a 29'er FS but I will just have wet dreams about it for now.

2007 was my big upgrade year: Lyrik Solo Air, new hand-built wheels and most recently my Specialized Pitch frame.

For 2008, all i need is a set of Formulas or Strokers and new bars, stem and headset. Then I'll be done. I swear.

I'd like to upgrade my fitness so that I am faster.

Other than that... remains to be seen. I'm not lusting after anything that will be affordable at all this year

P.S. I did want to see Wicked in 2008, but for $283 a ticket, I think I'd rather go to Bootleg for the weekend!!!!

lets see...

3k for socom
7k for road bikes
2k at the bike shop sales

i would guess another 1k in pads/clothes

so we are conservatively at 13k in gear. this doesn't include:

whistler trip
2 trips to mammoth
2 trips to utah
TONS of gas money to ride nearly every weekend
race fees
etc...

REMEMBER THIS!!! :::: if i had more money to spend on riding my bikes with my wife and good friends i would do it in a heartbeat!!!!!!!!

Default Time for an upgrade in the office...

Complete new Apple system, probably a book pro with three 23inch cinema's... Would like to bigger but I don't want to have to wear sunscreen in front of them.

Its probably a stupid move because its expensive but I am sick of PC's (way too many problems this year, felt like a Next Cycles sponsored rider) and the new software I use is Mac compliant.

I need to upgrade my savings account as well!
