I saw the post “Learn To Huck 1 PM Southridge” I have been thinking of having a one or two day Jump/Huck clinic in San Diego; I would organize it through SDMBA, in the past we have put on basic skills and Downhill clinic’s but never a Jump clinic.
So my question is, do you think there would be much interest in a Jump/Huck clinic in San Diego, where is a good and “legal” place to have it and whom should we get to teach the clinic.

it better be nothing like the one in Southridge was
on that note, make sure someone knows the area ahead of time, and that there's stuff to work with, and that there's some learning/training/etc going on, and that someone with some teaching experience is running it |

For hucking, in particular, that seems like a miserable place to hold a clinic. The run-ins and the run-outs are pretty dicey, especially if you're already puckered. I hope that people do actually know how to teach when they set these things up. Being able to do it does not translate into the ability to teach.

Thanks for the blast on something i tryd to do as a nice guy, the southridge one was setup when I had no time to prepare and everyone rode at a different skill level the idea behind it was justto get everyone out and messing around with people there to give advise if they needed it. If you put this together make sure you show exactualy what you will be doing so you dont have any complaining and they know what is going to be on the agenda. The last SR thing was setup last miute and was supposed to be for the people that had asked me persoanlly for help in certain areas. You arent going to make any friends on here with that kind of attitude. I have rode southridge alot, I know whats around ,I didnt anticipate the wide range of skill levels we had to cater too. I know are clinic was weak in the instruction area and thats why the new one we've been working on isnt posted yet. We're going to show pics of everything we are going to be doing and if you dont like it dont come.

With that being said, I doubt you'll have a high turn out next time around with that kind of attitude. Especailly when people speak thier mind. If I were you then I would take everyone criticism and use it for improvement instead of getting all pissed off about it. If people think you suck at teaching then more than likely you do. don't get mad, just work on what will improve yourself. Besides when you call it a CLINIC then expect to teach, demonstrate, and cater to all skill levels. Also I woundn't show pics, that is what web is for. |

I did listen to alot of people about what went on. I dont respect personal attacks me ( David B) I have been involved in clinics before with bmx which is alot easier because you stay on a track. Half The people wanted to go to the Dh course while the rest wanted to stay on the 4x track. I know some people had a good time and understood that some of the dissorganization was because of peoples different skill levels ( curbs vs. 6 foot rock drops) We also wont be doing the clinic at southridge anymore even though the people that stayed to the end understood that the 4x track was nice to learn on. David b could have posted his sugestions in a less antagonistic format but choose not too then wrote in his sig, warning this may be deleted. I teach almost everyday at my job K-6th I know that we did not have very lear lesson plan for the day but it wsnt setup to be formal we would need a better area then SR if we were going to do something like that. The day was setup for peole to get out there and try some small things with feedback if and when they needed it. Was david B one of th whiners that I heard behing my back saying we dont want to be Dirt Jumpers. Speak up next time if you dont like something say somthing dont just passive aggressively whisper behind my back then blast me for trying to do a nice thing.
Skate : Show which pics ? I'm talking about pics of exactually the jumps/drops we will be working on they do not all have good pictures already on the web.

Just to give some background on past SDMBA event’s, SDMBA has put on about 20 skill clinics and twice a many Trail training classes for land managers and the general public, the one thing we have learned is to be prepared, we also know to hire experts, in the past we have had pros such as Missy Giove and professional cross country and downhill instructors, for our trail training class we bring in the IMBA Trail Crew, SDMBA will only do what it does best, we know how to organize an event, from getting the right permits, liability insurance, support crew and the small things like parking.
All the advice I have read so far is exactly what we need to know, thanks ![]() For this event I was thinking of hiring Bikeskills anyone have any information on this company other then what’s on the website.

Just make sure you let everyone know what the skill level is and that your event is going to be for that skill level only
