SDMBA rocks you guys. Good folks working hard to help and enhance the mtbiking community.

As for the clinic, I do everything I can to keep the bike upright and moving forward. I don't think separating the rubber from the ground is such a good idea... for me.

Big up to all that add a positive note to our mutual obsession! Thanks TCB!!

I would be down to attend a mini huck/jump clinic. How about having it at Corral Canyon area above Lake Morena? Lots of natural features and the place needs some jumps (if its legal). I have a shovel, bike, and beer. Just an idea........

Dirt Series is holding a clinic in OC/IE in April 2008. They primarily cater to women but the one in April is CO-ED.

I know it's not SD, but it's close. These are top level riders. Check it out

I'd like to go if it's not on the weekend (since I work weekends).

I still think Southridge is a good place to learn to jump, the 4x track has a lot good stuff to learn on. I heard a lot of good comments from the clinic.

If my schedule would allow I'd be down for it. The 4x in Southridge rocked. I wasn't involved in any clinic but the other day just watching Destroyer and Ricky I learned quite a bit. Perhaps a couple of individuals teaching the different skill levels might work. Start in a group, break into the different skill levels and then come back as a group to sort of show everyone what you learned. A 4x course works well because you can use sections of it (Using Southeridge as an example the middle section and the lower section) and allows for the different skill levels to 'show-off' a bit by using either part or the whole course. Just an idea or two.

I had a ton of fun at the last clinic in Southridge...i asked questions and therefore i got answers and that being said i would definitely be willing to make the drive from the OC (carpool anyone) to SD if the date doesnt conflict.

Once again, really big thanks to all of the people here on STR constantly willing to take time out of their day to volunteer/plan/hold activities for the benefit of ALL STR members...

I would be interested in a carpool, drive or ride. If I ride gas $ and lunch will be included to the driver.

I'm interested as well. I agree, as long as you define the skill level up front (curbs vs hucks; beginner vs advanced jumps), then to each his own. You can't make everyone happy. I would recommend separating "Jumps" and "Hucks" into different groups (e.g. "jumping clinic" or "huck clinic").

I tried but couldn't make the southridge clinic, but I did get the impression Rockinthecasbah was doing this free clinic to "help" his STR friends learn some skills. Will try to make it to the next one...

I would like to thank everyone for all the excellent advise, I am going to start calling or emailing some of the resources mentioned on this thread, I am thinking of combining this event with SDMBA’s April 20th skills clinic or add a second day of the 19th, Simko mentioned Lake Morena, that’s where we normally have our skills clinic, I just need to see if Lake Morena will work for a jump clinic.
Just a thought, it might be fun to turn this into a two day event, there is camping, we could include rides get a bike manufacture to bring demo bikes.

Am I the only one who hates the word "huck"? It's right up there on my list of words to never use...right next to "gnar" and just above "tissue" and "napkin".

This is not a thread-jack, just a comment.

huck v.

to throw, to toss, to short-arm; in disc-based sports, to throw for distance; in cycling, kayaking, snowboarding, and similar sports, to ride over a drop-off.

Derailment fixed.....lets get back on track.

YES, it does sound like a cool weekend event!

We have all of the instructors confirmed and a possible location, we just need to nail down a date, we originally planed for April 20th but that’s the same date as the sea otter, as soon as I coordinate the dates with the instructors I will post more details.
