Any trail in any National Forest (e.g. Cleveland National Forest - Santiago/Luge, Blackstar, San Juan, etc.) is open for night riding, unless there are closures for other reasons, and not too much else other than what has been mentioned already. I hear that Laguna Coast is offering docent-led night rides once or twice a month.

As far as I know, everything in the Santa Monica's that's open to bikers is also open to night riding.

This is far from OC. But I have a friend who rides the Verdugo Mts at night. Must be okay.

There are signs at the Los Robles trailhead at the end of Moorepark Rd. that say the trails open at sunrise and close at sunset.

Pt. Mugu/Sycamore Canyon is an excellent night riding area with trails for all levels available for night riding.

That's why he said "unless there are closures for other reasons" since that trail is normally open if not for the fire.

Maybe you should re-read my post: "...unless there are closures for other reasons." Obviously, most everything on the western slopes of the Santa Anas is closed because of the fires. Also, Maple Springs is usually closed in the spring/summer due to toad mating season.

Whoops, didn't see your follow-up.

Here is a link to the forest service site. Los Padres, Angeles, San Bernardino, and Cleveland NFs will all have closures due to the recent fires, so check each site individually to see what's open.

The IE has some places that fall into the technically-illegal-but-the-rangers-are-cool-with-it category and so as a result I will not post them.

If you want to know where you aren't supposed to ride so you don't accidently ride there send me a pm.

I've seen many people heading in to ride at night, but it's still posted that the trails close at sunset.

We have a fun loop in the Cowan Heights/Orange Park Acres area right off of Chapman and Jamboree in the OC...It's legal and very much like the Fully loop...don't know if the residence in the area would dig a big huge group going thru the trails that run up against their back yards since we tend to set the dogs off barking but if the groups were kept around 10 I know they wouldn't care since that is what we have been doing for years now...the route is about 7-10 miles long depending on the route you take and there are lots of bail out points if you need to head home early...good ride for interval training too...if you want more info about the route contact Switchback Cyclery...we do the ride on Tuesday nights as of right now.

The barking dogs make me ride faster.
