RED BULL RAMPAGE - 06 -07 What happened?

STR Riderz,

I just can't find any recent videos of the STR Free Riders at this competition from 2006 or 2007. Did ( Red Bull ) stop having this event these past couple years? I went to www.redbullrampage.com and those videos ended in 2004. I went searching in http://youtube.com/ also and really didn't notice anything current. If you can LINK something go for it in this tread please. A lot of MTBer's at my work place are impressed that it takes helicopter to follow these guys around w/ the video equipment.

If you know of any other FREE Ride event that's just as DOWN Link it.

2004 was the last year...then a small group of locals, Canfield, Bender and others had the Zion freeride festival in 2005 at or near the REDBULL site.
I think the festival was then an unadvertised word of mouth invite only type event. now it's go drag your bike up the hill or take runs down the FLYINGMONKEY.

im probably wrong, but i think 'slope style' is set up at events such as Cranx Worx on more of a man-made course with huge obstacles/stunts, where as the freeride redbull events took place on mother natures natural obstacles/ledges course (for the most part).

I believe it's the freeride stuff in a bike park. The manmade stunts and jumps. The most famous one is Whistler, right in front of the Garbanzo lift. You know, the trailer box, the huge 25ft ladders, wall ride, etc....

I agree, while slopestyle is undeniably cool, there is nothing quite like hucking off a cliff in the wild.

i think there were some riders complaining about the red bull rampage. something about it being a big huck fest and people going bigger and bigger. i think a few got hurt.
