Combo Breaker!
![]() |
I know I'm not the first one to think of this, but I'm wondering how far anyone has ever gone to figuring out or mapping out a ride/loop like the Fully Loop in their hometown.
I think it's a cool idea and I'm wondering what the possibilities are for other areas. I know it totally depends on the city or area, but it's got to be doable elsewhere. I read in BIKE magazine (I think) about other cities in the US that have loops similar to Fullerton. I'd love to figure one out for San Diego, but I'm a north county resident and don't know the layout of the city very well.

I would think LPQ and Sycamore would be out mainly because of location. Plus, I was thinking more in the spirit of Fully, where we don't rely on 1 trail to provide all the mileage. I'm thinking Rose Canyon, San Clemente Canyon and Tecalote Canyon might be worked in too. Where is Florida Canyon?

When you consider how many narrow unused spaces there are around town you would think there would be possibilities in may cities / towns. The company I work for is designing one in the San Antonio Heights area of Upland which will part dirt and part paved.

You know the city area better than I Nappy--any ideas? You're an inventive guy, I bet if we all thought about it we could come up with a good route.

No idea what your looking for? You want a loop around Diego? So not the Sea-to-Sea trial from Delmar to Ramona or something?

We already do......it's call the Fullerton Loop. ![]() Seriously though.....we have another loop in Tustin/Cowan Heights/Orange Park Acres that we can loop together to get in a nice ride. |

When they do the Rock N' Roll marathon in June, they run from Balboa Park (so, Florida Canyon trails) to Mission Bay (some road but then bike path). From there, the loop could link up to Rose Canyon, Tecolote, Marion Bear, etc. That would be cool!!
Excellent...now we want the San Diego v. 1.0 |

http://members.cox.net/sd_run_maps/ I know they are running routes but there might be enough here to piece together something basic. |

I was thinking along those same lines. Of course we can incorporate some established trails, but I didn't want to rely on that primarily. I was thinking 10-15 miles. Could be more. It will likely be primarily flat, so a longer distance is still doable. I was just looking in a Thomas Bros map book, and Steph's idea looks promising.

I was thinking something centralized to everyone. Something around the Tri-Canyon area or Balboa Park would work.
