I've pretty much settled into a 32/20. It's a nice all-around ratio for the long climbs like Blackstar, Maple Springs, STT and San Juan, etc...

I just don't have the power any longer to use a 2:1 ratio.

Hope this helps

I'm thinking about a KHS Solo One..tried going w just a geared bike, but it's just not the same!! I'm thinking of getting a small size (16in). Its really cheap, and i have an extra fork I could throw on there.

2:1! You must be one of those quadzilla guys. Can you post about that Solo one frame after you get a few rides in? I'm wondering if the softail has any flex issues on a singlespeed.

Thanks.

I actually owned a Solo One. Yea, I don't know if I could hang w/ a 2:1 on Blackstar or MS, but I cleared every hill at Fullerton Loop w/ the 2:1. It's a real blast to challenge yourself that way and charge the hill as fast as you can. My legs definitely got stronger. Overall, I LOVE the Solo One, I think I'm going to buy another one. The soft tail really works, the components seem a little cheap, but decent and reliable it seems. The softtail does give a little flex, but its only an inch travel if that, so its nothing major.
