I'm thinking of selling my Yeti AS-X for a Transition Blindside.
Anyone in LA or OC own one I could sit on to see how it feels? Last edited by CalEpic : 12-11-2007 at 04:28 PM. Reason: requested |

I was thinking about this bike as well before I decided on a Specialized demo 8. First off are you concerned about weight? Because the Transition will be much heavier than your Yeti.
Do you plan on Hucking this bike or downhill? Depending on what you want to do, you may want to look into a lighter bike. Dino would point you towards a Iron Horse... Also what is your budget? the Santa Cruz VP Free is a really nice bike if you've got more money a Socom seems to be a bike on everyones Christmas list

Bike will be for local shuttle runs and Mammoth. My AS-X has been really good to me over the last 3 years but I want a true DH bike with a lower bottom bracket and height and a proper DC fork. I might do some races at Fontana but I'd probably ride my Enduro. Budget is as cheap as possible. I've got a hook up and can the Blindside frame and shock for several hundred below MSRP. For the past 6 months I've been thinking of buying a used Glory, Sunday, DHR, V10, M3 etc. Larges are hard to come by and any used downhill bike is a gamble. The Blindside uses a 135mm rear end which nice since I've got tons of extra cranks and wheels sitting around that will fit. The ability to run a floating brake with a mounting position to induce brake squat is nice too. Now I just need to find one to sit on. |

i don't have one, but its on the short list of potential DH rigs... it looks freakin SICK and should ride well if its like any of their other rigs

cool, haha when you get one let me know! I haven't seen one in person...
Have you thought about Rocky Mountain? They have the Flatline coming out soon... Thats a good point you make, buying a used DH bike is sort of a gamble. Transition also has a good warranty from what I read. When I was looking for a new bike 3 Transitions were on my list. haha how about you break your ASX and see if Yeti replaces it with either a new one or the new Seven. That would be a light build...

For the price I can pick the Blindside up for it will be hard to beat. My main beef with the frame is the leverage ratio. I really wish they would have used a 9.5 x 3 shock. |
