What kind of steamer is it? You can steam fish, shellfish, chicken, vegetables, tofu. If it is a stackable steamer put some aromatics on the bottom (citrus skins, cilantro, lemon grass, etc.) and put your protein on the top. The flavors will carry up and get absorbed into the meats. Asian markets have a lot of really great ingredients for steaming, just go and smell stuff then use what you like. The hardest part of the cooking for me is that I am a classically trained French style chef and out of habit wanna add butter and cream to things. |

I love Mustard

I am using the technique of stopping eating 3 hours before bed - no food after an early dinner, just hot tea and water (not too much, or you'll be up peeing all night).
So last night I went to bed a tad hungry (not starving), and I had vivid dreams about food and eating most of the night! Can't wait for my bowl of steel-cut oatmeal for breakfast - very yummy! You have to cook them for 30 minutes, but I make a huge batch and fill a bunch of 1-cup disposable containers and stick them in the freezer. Then when I reheat a bowl I add a little sweetener, salt, cinnamon and milk (or in my case, hemp milk - it's the most delicious nondairy drink).

Other than veggies, I use my steamer for chicken. I used to use my George Foreman, but it seems to dry it out too much.
I recommend using chicken broth to steam it also, which will add some flavor. Also, make sure to slice it so it's not too thick. You don't want rare chicken! I pretty much suck at spicing food, so I grab some of this and some of that and hope for the best! Quote:

![]() We bbq chicken mostly (boneless, skinless breasts that are vacuum wrapped from Costco). For veggies, I just steam them on the stove (no steamer). We had raw brocolli last night, but usually I'll steam in a little water with garlic powder, lemon pepper (no salt added), onion powder, and white pepper. |

After the First Thread I decided to Eat as much as I could to Pad My numbers for the challenge. After all the hording and self indulgences over the plethora of parties, I padded my typical 210 to a whopping 201?!
(yeah thats right Two-Zero-#$%@!*$-ONE ) This is just a reminder to really take into account your caloric intake, and Out put. Turns out I was undercutting my intake by close to 1600 calories, so the body stored fat cause I was "starving." The Dr. said as soon as I started eating like a pig, it could let go x2. So much for padding. Official Start weight: 201 Measurements coming My take on food. I make a great Soup on Sunday and Wednesday that stays in the fridge, and I do a Big thing of rice on Monday. Helps with the, "Might as well get the double cheese king sized, cause there's nothing in the fridge." excuse ![]()

Well, I am starting at 5'3" and 125 lbs. I will lose 10-15 lbs. Hey, I was thinking ... the Path road ride Saturday mornings would be a great place for us (or some of us) to meet. Last saturday we did 45 miles! That equals about 1,500 calories, which is almost equivalent to half of pound of human weight loss! Road riding really takes the lbs off, plus it improves your mountain biking.
