Healthy weight loss is about 0.5-2 lbs a week. Of course your first few weeks will probably be a little more than that due to water weight. Remember that in order to lose 1 lb you must have a deficit of 3500 calories (either through inputing less and/or expending more through exercise, 1 lb = 3500 calories). =)

1 gram of fat = 9 calories
1g of alcohol = 7 calories
1g of protein = 4 calories
1g of carbohydrates = 4 calories

Hey does anyone have a suggestion for the "afternoon slump" at work, besides caffeine? I am always super motivated in the morning, at the gym after work and at night but right in the afternoon at work about 1-2 hours before I get to leave I get sluggish and somewhat lose motivation/will to go to the gym. I usually just drink coffee but it makes it harder to sleep at night consuming caffeine around 3-4pm (not to mention caffeine is a diuretic). Any tips would help!

get more sleep at night (if you are not currently getting enough) and spread out your eating throughout the day.. an afternoon snack and some water should get you through the slump.. I like toast and natural peanut butter or a piece of fruit.. also, take a little stroll to get some fresh air and the blood flowing..

U know bob what I noticed in your picture not only that you lost tons of weight but I looked at your desk when you were a husky boy and your desk was a mess and looks all unorganized. The new picture the desk looks organized. I found that when I was loosing weight I became detailed about things.

You're correct, its amazing how many things change. I know its sounds like a cliche but energy increases, old bones don't creek so much and most of all your self confidence increases big time. I'm somewhat of an introvert and two years ago I would never have joined a group like this and driven many miles to meet a bunch of cool strangers to ride

That is the best part of the deal

I used to wrestle in middle, high school, and in the J.Cs. and my biggest weight loss was 30 lbs in one month. Believe it or not but I wrestled 160, I only held my weight for about 15 min for the weigh-in. Not the healthest way of loosing weight. I know all the tricks, sana, stationary bike in sana w. sana suite on, spitting in a cup, standing on your head before weigh-in, run your arse off in the sauna suite. I even slept in the sauna suite. I have seen guys loose 20lbs in three to four days it can be done.

One tournament I went to if you made it to the second day you had to go back in and weigh-in after you done with your wrestling for the day. So that means when you spent two to three days watching what you ate and working hard you could not go get a fat nice breakfast after morning weigh-ins. Well I was like 2lbs over and after wrestling all day you really don't want to put the sauna suite on and go run 5 miles. I was lucky my best friends brother at the time was this local bad arse collage wrestler was working the scales. I told him my story how I was stressing making the weight. He informed me that "watever the scale says he has to go by but maybe you can get a lift". So long story short I get on the scale my buddy is standing behind me and gives me a little lift under arse cheek. I know I know you guys may think that is ghey but hey we are both very secured men. I made the weight

I drew the line on that one but I knew of guys that did it, water pills too. I once gagged myself because I felt guilty that I lost my discipline and ate. I only did that once and knew that was stupid.

I just went to wiki to look at side affects and dangers of laxatives and water pills and this scentence cracked me up: "Laxatives are often abused by people with eating disorders, and those persons who feel good after having a bowel movement".
I always feel weird after a poop, not a feeling I really enjoy.

After reading Willie's pdfs I was thinking of recipes.
Here's an easy way to make boneless chicken-steeping:

Boil a stockpot of water.

While it gets to boiling, cut up flavorings-
Whole scrubbed lemon, sliced
peeled garlic cloves, squished or chopped
Fresh parsley
Fresh herbs
Celery/carrot
Onion or green onion

When the water boils, add the aromatics and some salt.
I always use lemon/garlic/parsley. Whatever else depends on what is in the house/garden. Tomato and fresh basil is great. Amounts don't matter that much, just generously use what you got.
After a minute or so add 4-6 chicken breasts.
Cover the pan with a lid and turn off the burner after one minute.
Take off the heat and leave alone for 20-22 minutes.
Take out chicken and allow to cool.
Can be taken to work for lunch, made into tacos/salads/sandwiches, etc.

Default Steamer

Anyone know of foods I can steam? I got a nifty steamer for Xmas and would love to use it but I can't think of any thing else to steam besides veggies! Any ideas would be awesome and any tips as to how to use it (so the veggies/food don't taste bland) and flavor the food. Thanks =)
