Count me in for the glory. I may decide to do the $10 later. I like the idea of getting together for a group ride. One a month would be great, maybe the Fully.

It would give us a chance to give moral support and discuss food plans.

[SIZE=3]Count me in too! I will either mail you a check or Paypal you the money over the weekend. I don't even care if I lose; so long as it motivates myself and others, mission will be accomplished.

Quick notice to anyone out there who's maybe on the fence about entering this little contest: Once a couple people make good on their pledges, we're gonna be over a hundred-dollar payout here. Who wouldn't want a crack at that? Of course, if you should do well enough to take the big prize, you will have won something much, MUCH greater than that.

Looking forward to January 1. I wish everyone the best of luck in achieving their goals.

P.S.: I plan on posting a ride invite for the group for early January (thinking Fully Loop), but if anyone wants to get something going sooner, have at it.

Um, what about the obvious problem - people might lie about the amount of weight they lose. :-)

Um, i've clearly safeguarded against this with my ironclad "don't be a cheating bastidge" rule. Duh!

I know you're just sorta kidding, but if someone chooses to cheat, it matters not a whit to me personally--though i'd feel bad for those who truly aspired to take top honors. I'm just gonna do my best to reach my own goals and let the result (hopefully a very positive one) be its own reward. The fact that there are others who are as excited about this informal little competition as I am is already gratifying in itself.

Again, best of luck to everyone.

All right all right. Well, I lost about 10 lbs this past couple months, and it's made me a bit faster even though I ride a lot less miles. So, I want to lose 10-15 more lbs with an ideal body fat of about 15 percent.

I guess I'll join in. What the heck. But I can't promise that I won't lie about my weight loss. Sending 10 bucks now. I laughed at this thread at first, but I knew I couldn't resist entering.

Default Count me in!

I just PayPal'd my 10 bucks so count me in!

I am 5'10" and 6 months ago was at #300 (fat bastid).

Since then I have dropped #30 but been backsliding for

about a month now and picked up about #8. I rode 33

miles and 4300 ft. climbing in the Santa Monica

Mountains last Saturday (took 7 hours) but I am

ready to kick it into high gear and get serious about

becoming more fit. Thanks for the Challenge.

You got it! Go to your PayPal account and send it to the e-mail address ODB gave in the first post. That's what I did. Under the personal tab in PayPal just hit send money, then a dialogue box comes up that you will enter the e-mail and amount to be sent. It was pretty easy.

I'm in for the glory- I like the accountability part. It's like weight watchers without the meetings or cost-
Power to the people looking to better themselves!!!

i know some people that started weight watchers and lose 3-4 pound a wek consistently for the past month. if someone goes out and buys the started kit with the point book and doesnt go to meetings, they would have a good chance of winning
and its really easy. eat what you want witihin the 24 points your allowed everyday. the weight watchers not only teaches you to lose weight but it teaches you to manipulate the foods you eat so they work to your benifit

I used to be in weight watchers and got down to 168 and was looking and feeling pretty good(also worked at a summer camp which helped a lot), but two years went by and Im now at 215. It's a great program and has great support. I'm sure people doing this contest don't need the moral support from weight watchers since they're getting it here, but if you're at it alone and don't have much will power, like me, you need to go to meetings.
