So I'm bidding on a Juliana frame on ebay. The seller lives in Encino. I live in Calabasas, it's maybe 10 minutes by freeway, and yet he insists on shipping it to me!! $40.00 shipping charge to send the frame 20 miles up the freeway!
Needless to say, if I get outbid, I'll move on.(Bidding ends in a day, and the current high bid is $76.00, which is me, so I'm sure I'll get outbid).

I sell on e bay alot and I just don't want a bunch of people coming over to my house. I learned that the hard way back in the Recycler days.
Maybe the same deal for him. That or he wants the few extra bucks from shipping mark-up. <- prolly more likely the latter |

Yup, he doesn't like face-to-face meetings. He prefers a straight business-type transaction.
I quote "I'd ship it two houses over if it were the case" Thanks Dino, I test fit all of those frames at Wheelworld, and strangely, they feel a little too compact, even with an XC stem.

Could be the risk of disease, it being flu season and all. Not to mention the fact the seller may be very isolated and high context. They might not want to deal with someone haggling over scratches or as others have stated getting ripped off. I have earned almost a thousand feedbacks as a seller this year and have had only a few buyers want to save a few bucks. Some became indignant about paying a $4 handling fee despite the item already being carefully packed for shipment anywhere around the globe. Unless they have specified local pickup being OK in the listing, it may be imposing or even rude to expect it without first asking permission.

Those are some great deals, if I was like 3 or 4 inches shorter I'd be driving up to Culver City!

.....cause it's e-bay. That's how the majority of the sellers re-coupe their money through shipping.
