Let's start a fatburner club, once a week, we get together and do a work-out ride.
Everybody put the shoulder to the wheel and help the others. We could alternate who's leading the training each week. That way we all have to do some homework to find a good work out and a good place to do it. And if you have to lead the work-out, you can't slack off.

I'm in because I need to loose the weight but I see some problems. Normal healthy weight loss is +/- 2 lbs per week. So in 12 weeks the rough average should be everyone loses ~24 lbs. Now I know some will loose this in a week and other won't loose that in 6 months but still. I still don't see how we can find a winner.

Also things like BMI are bad indicators for where everyone should be weight wise. Body fat is the only true way to know if your healthy or not. Does everyone have access to a gym or Dr that can measure body fat? I think if we do it by body fat it would make the contest a little more balanced.

We will also need brackets those that need to loose 20 lbs might find it harder than those that need to loose 50 lbs.

Just an idea count me in either way...

Body Fat Calc

What a time to start. I'll be on vacation.

I am in.

Great Idea!

Hopefully I won't be last.

You know it's really good that I stopped at Toms Candy Store on my way back from Marks ride on Sunday. I'll finish up my candy before this starts. Okay I confessed. Rode up the 15 just to stop there.

No more candy!

I'll give up a meal for an almond joy, not anymore. SMALL ALMOND JOY!

So when this starts mtnbikerfred/anyone can search my pack for candy.

Do you really think one small candy makes a big deal? What about several tiny pieces of small candy?

I don't eat ice cream or pies or cake just candy...how bad can that be?

I don't drink often either.

Someone asked earlier if Diet Coke is fatting it must be...is it? I'll find out for sure.

We will be great support for each other and we will all be bobble heads on mountain bikes.

Personally winning - I am not concerned about winning. If I lose the weight I want to lose, I'll be happy.

Maybe we should keep it simple and have someone we feel comfortable with from STR weigh us.

Have someone like Gene or someone close to you keep us honest.

Surlygal you can weigh me.

Here's the format I propose (not set in stone, so please feel free to give additional suggestions or changes):

1. Time frame: Jan. 1-April 1
2. Winner determined by % of starting weight lost (first weigh-in done by Jan. 8--a week's grace period; final weigh-in is EXACTLY on April 1, by 6 p.m.)
3. Give periodic updates on your progress (say, at least three times during the span of the three months; more, if you like)
4. What's at stake: strictly bragging rights, or do we vie for a prize? if the latter, i suggest everyone kick in 10 bucks, with the ultimate winner getting it all in the form of a gift certificate to their favorite bike shop.
5. Not a hard-and-fast rule here, but let's try to help one another. share eating and exercise tips that are working for you or, conversely, things that have made you backslide.
6. This goes without saying, but you're on your honor in this friendly contest, so don't be a cheatin' bastidge .

So let's hear it: Who's in?
My hat is off to all of you and wish each and every one of you success.

Can we have a separate competition for the girls? It's a lot harder for the girls to lose weight as quickly as the guys. It would be nice to have some hope of winning, even if it's only a few bucks (most of the STR dirty girlz don't need to lose any weight!).

If you girls want, you can do it in the secret girl's forum and you don't have to worry about broadcasting to the rest of us.

There are fewer women than men on STR though right?

What about a multiplier to make it more even?

I am definetly in, boy do I need to drop some weight. I used to weigh 490 and am down to about 315. Hopefully this will be the motivation I need. My only concern is maybe it should be 6 months rather than 4, this will allow for those who take a little longer to start losing to catch up.

If we base it off of percentage you'll actually have an advantage. My wife and I are "Biggest Loser" Addicts and I'll see a girl lose 4 pounds, and push a guy who lost 8 pounds under the "yellow Line" Consistently, and they all have these huge losses in the 90 days they're on the ranch.

I'll be honest at 200 (215 Max after Christmas parties) to get to 170 I'd Only loose 26.4%

I think the biggest competitor would be surley gal and Pugz, they'll kick our A$$es and take our cash. But I'll still give them the best run I can.

Aren't you like 8 feet tall? At 205, i think you'd clinically be considered anorexic.
