2007 was a good year for my family and me. We were all healthy and happy. I took some outstanding mtb related trips and some memorable family trips that did not involve mtb. I still think I work too much but I believe in 2007 I've started to balance it out pretty well.
How about a few pics? I trained my butt off on boring fire roads to finish the Counting Coup. ![]() Once again we made our way to Arizona for the Spring Fling ![]() Riding with the bubbs in Laguna ![]() One of the Palm Canyon rides ![]() A day at Aliso with my boys ![]() Kernville with a nice bonus white water rafting excursion ![]() Downieville & Tahoe ![]() Family camping trip at Big Sur ![]() Houseboat trip at Lake Powell ![]() Utah ![]() Some other moments - Bought a new dirt bike. I'm really jazzed about this. Motocross changed my life for the better as a teen and I'm really looking forward to more throttle twisting in 2008. My wife and kids are getting into mountain biking. This is really cool. I can only hope 2008 is as kind.

1)The Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. I took a trip with the company Escape Adventures. Just fantastic! 2)Idaho: Endless singletrack.......! 3)My son wins the San Diego County Fair Jalapeno Eating contest: 47 in 5 minutes! ( Yes, ouch to what you are thinking about the day after) 4)My brother Paul makes it down from Portland for 5days of great San Diego Co riding! 5) Hanging on the beach in the Turks and Caicos. 6) My first time to Tucson AZ, rode the Arizona Trails and met my first Green Mojave rattlesnake eye to eye! 7) First time on the "new" Off Camber/ZigZag Ridge Trail in Sycamore was in 2007. A fun diversion! Last edited by mtbchip; 12-05-2007 at 10:11 PM. Reason: Add photo |

making a comment on here the night before the San Juan ride that I wished I had gone to REI and picked up an extra tube along with an Adventure Pass. Said I'd risk both and be there the next day anyway....
#1. Get to San Juan (2nd, maybe 3rd STR ride ever) and J_Sims walks up to me, hands me an Adventure Pass that I can use for the day, and tells me he brought me 2 extra tubes and to pick what sized I wanted as well. My jaw dropped, and thought I don't know who this stranger is but the dude is helping me out. If he has a van and free candy, i'll get in. Even weirder, he wasn't riding that day but was there for the hell of it. #2. Go down hard on my shoulder/head not too far from where we turned around at, and thinking that I'm out by myself and caught between riders, I'm hoping I'm ok as I (still) remember 3 hard hits on the ground with my head and hoping someone was behind me to help if hurt (think rock skipping on a lake, but with my nogin and hard dirt). Apparently someone was behind me, saw and stopped. He pulled my bike off me and waited until I finally got off the ground (which seemed like forever) and asked me a couple times if I was ok. My head and shoulder hurt, and my arm swelled up and stung like hell. I never did find out who this was, not a famous STR poster I guess but cool nonetheless. thanks mystery dude #3. Get back to my car and find one of those Path flyers, hand off J_Sims stuff to someone else to get back to him (andy?), and Anne gives me some stuff to put on my scraped up arm. Roger hooked me up with a soda and all was well. ![]() |

What a great thread.
1. 2007 is the year I started really riding and met the great group of people that are the STR Family. 2. Convinced the wife to let me get a new bike and got a Chumba ![]() 3. Joined the STR birthday ride and rode with a lot of really cool people, Dino, Yo Mama and ferret. 4. Met a lot of other awesome people at the Sunday newbie rides (there are so many names that should go hear but I don't want to forget anyone, you know who you are) 5. 2008 is going to be a great year with the birth of my first child. I look forward to 2008 |

Pugs ,
I am working on setting up a bike maintenance clinic. This should be a Memorable moment. Learning is always something to remember. I'm working on the location. It seem to be getting a lot of interest. Maybe a BBQ and a small fun ride can go with it. I might have it at my house. I am thinking of doing the Anaheim Hills loop or something right after it. Maybe a small Huck clinic if the ladders are still up in AH. The local schools have some things to learn to jump off off. Thats is it is a small group. Also PM me and let me know how everything is going with your bike. J Quote:

Leah broke her ankle up at Mammoth back in May of '06. We had 1 day of great skiing, then a storm day hit. That afternoon we went to meet the crew at the Austria Hof... around 4 PM... She was just crossing an icy patch of road... and boom, down she went. I tried to hang on to her but... ![]() She spent the next 5 days in the Mammoth hospital. Guess what I did... Shredoll |
