Yeah, they are really cool guys too. Good band. They are playing the Galaxy Theatre at the end of January, I'm going to be there for sure. We don't sound much like Vast, but their fans seem to be very open minded and we got a good response, hopefully we get a good one from you haha. Thanks for checking us out!

Last year my Father passed away and it made me think about how life is just to short. He loved the Outdoors and even when he was feeling sick he whould somehow gain the strength to go fishing and what not. Before he passed I had quit smoking. My mom told me that if my father had all these health problems she didnt want me to go through the same thing and I knew my father would want me to stop as well. So after quitting I gained a lot of weight. I went from 180 to 258. I did the whole gym thing but I just got bored. The only time I enjoyed the gym was when the girls were doing there yoga
. So since the gym was not working out and I whould rather be outdoors I went and bought my Iron Horse in january this year and that bike saved me. So from January up till now my wieght went from 258 to 163 as of this morning. 2007 was also when I found out about STR and im very glad I showed up to fully for a night ride. Its funny how the first person I met was Dino and now we ride 2 sometimes 3 times a week together, And I also got to meet Coldbrews,KBL,Mt Dew,Grandpa,Tedroy who are some of the best people I had the pleasure of riding with and who I learned a lot from. |

Loop'n on my Heckler
![]() |
Great posts everyone!
I'm the eternal optimist and every year has been good to me (even with a few aw-shits thrown in). As long as the family is healthy & happy, my life is wonderful. Thankfully (and a little selfishly), MTB'g and STR provided an awesome new avenue for me. I started to ride in February after four years of pain and two knee surgeries. I can't remember feeling this good since my college running days. Not counting all of the Loop rides, I've been on six STR group rides. Every ride was excellent. My two favorite rides were with my son (sorry Dino). At the Sinks ![]() At the top of Beeks ![]() I'd never be able to list all the fine folks I've met, so let's just say everyone by age between Julia and OMR . Thanks to all!

My mom died in January of 07 she put up a tremendous fight. My mom loved the idea of me riding. Loved it even more that the girls were both riding. Then Stef tells me she's not a mtnbiker.
-March I bought my Ironhorse with the help of my freind Pato -Bought Julia's Trek from Pato soon after -Started my tuesday night beginner ride at Peters in the Spring. -Joined STR Mid of 07 -Riding with my neices and nephews this summer. -Completing the O'neil ride under 107 degree weather with Traci. -Meeting SarBoats, Gene, Omar and Dino Brown. -Riding the Loop for the first time with Christine of Trail Angels we meet mtnbikerfred (my adopted little brother). -Ready to quit not to long ago and then I ride with Pugzie at the Loop. -Sladnas's ride and meeting Mark the opportunity to see such kindness. -Watching Julia fly by on her mountain bike. -Watching Stef in a boxing ring. ![]() -Newbie Ride w/STR at Whiting riding with Bailey still at the top of my list. -The addition of our newest family member (Snuggles) I think it's some kind of toy dog. I didn't choose it! Need to get the pics on the new computer.

Directionally Challenged

I guess the highlight or one of them was getting to ride with Lance Armstrong twice. We rode across Iowa on a ride called RAGBRAI. 20,000 riders strong. Got to ride for 6 days straight and loved every minute of it.

I was lucky enough to do many outstanding rides in many different places. There are a few standouts.
The AZSF in the spring was a great adventure ![]() ![]() The big STR trip to Kernville in June was a lot of fun. I really enjoy showing off our trails up here. I got some of the boys out on the whitewater as well. ![]() ![]() Our July Tahoe trip was epic ![]() ![]() The closing weekend Mammoth Trip was unforgettable ![]() ![]() One of the most fun things I have done lately is the stuff we have been building and riding in the back yard. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I can only hope that next year goes as well. |

Spinning my wheels
![]() |
Finding STR has renewed my faith in the mtb community...when I moved to SoCal from AZ in Summer 2005, I was bumming because I felt like I lost my mtb community. I took over a year off from racing (and riding) to get my graduate degree. Then, denmother (in her all-knowing-wisdom), encouraged me to join STR. Finally in Sept, I started riding again. It has been a short time since I've joined, but since then, I'm back on my bike and LOVING riding more than ever.
My memories from 2007: -finishing my first marathon (I didn't buy the finish-line photo )-running 2 half-marathons (that's me in the middle in the black outfit...I do not really like running) -climbing part of Mt. Rainier (wow...I thought biking could be scary sometimes) stepping onto my first glacier happy to be back on terra firma -getting my Master's degree in education My mom and me at my graduation -getting my National Board Certification as a teacher -losing my grandmother in April after her second stroke...she was so special to me...I miss her ![]() Mom, me, and Grandma...she's high-tech! -5 of our bikes got stolen in May ![]() the M3, Mongoose, and Specialized the Tazer -finding STR and reconnecting with my mtb friends ![]() Noble Ride -finally riding in Moab (Porc Rim rules!!) and Sedona -getting two new, very sweet bikes -my new dh team (yay...The Path!) ![]() ![]() -spending another year adventuring with Dan |

There are so many cool posts on here, I'll keep mine short and sweet. I finally graduated with my BA in Feb., seems like I have been in school forever, still going for my teacher's credential.
In April, my daughter raced the Idyllwild Spring Challenge, it was super tough for her, and I was proud of the way she stuck it out and finished. In May, I won my first race, the National at Fontana. Finally!!
