Default ? about San Clemente Singletracks

I looked up the ride on Geoladders and it looks as though there are multiple trail options.

I've never been there and would like to check it out, but don't really want to get lost.

So my question is, is there a 'standard' loop or or there many trail options?

OR

Should I just get my lazy butt out there and ride

get lost on the geoladders trail. But like any other trial it is nice to ride it with someone who has previously ridden it

There are A LOT of options. If you're not familiar with the area it's hard to get lost though. The fire road will take you back to the trail head (if you start by the dog park). It's nice to find someone who knows the trails to ride with the first time simply because they can show you some of the better routes. You can have a blast out there exploring too.

Also, the GeoLadders loop is my least favorite. It has you climbing out on a few trails that are better for decending in my opinion.

The GL loop is the middle of the area and the least interesting. I start on the furthest trail to the East and go from there. There is some fun behind the seat stuff and kid friendly trails

I rode it for the first time with my buddy who also had never been and we just kinda explored for a couple hours. Loots of fun. We ended up on some road that lead to pendleton and decided we should turn around and discover a different path. Never really got too lost though. Go explore, good stuff.

There is no tree cover so you can pretty much keep your bearings by landmarks. Ocean on one side, Marine Base on the other, houses and buildings on the other. I would be very hard to get lost for very long out there, although you may find a different way back to your car.

There are a boat load of options. I've ridden it only once. Myself and a few buddies just road whatever looked good. We ended up riding the trails all the way to the back. You know when you get there when you see the guard shack for Camp Pendelton, road up the switch backs to the very top, bomb down the fire road to the left, hook right at the power poles down the fire road and it will take you back to the dog park. No matter what trail you pick, it's going to be fun!

Like others have said there are lots of options. You probably won't get lost but may expend some energy on not-so-good routes or dead-ends.

Check out my Pendleton Singletracks on my dashboard on Geoladders under my user name below.

There are 15+ options there and all are good.
