I build jumps
|
Well I got off work and headed out to do some trail work. I got a good amount of pictures so more are coming.
First up I built a kicker over the old service road. So it's about a 15-20 foot gap and a 4-5 drop. Probably the craziest of the jump I built today. As you can see the landing is about 20 feet tall and plenty long, the runway is also down hill so speed isn't an issue.] This jump is kind of hard to take pictures of, so sorry if they are kind of hard to see. |

This is one of the smaller jumps. View of the lip, side view, and landing. One of the few I jumped today. Some I didn't want to jump because it was hard to get speed with the wind and wet conditions.

Next up is a hip jump over a concrete gap. Looked like something that could be fun so I built it.

Next up is the concrete gap. It takes a lot of speed but as you can see from the pic of the landing there is a huge roll in to get speed. This jump has always been here but it was in desperate need of a rebuild. Just don't come up short...

And the last jump, this one is pretty hairy. I don't what's tougher this or the road gap one. But this one is tough because the landing has a hip (to the right). I threw some fresh brown dirt in one of the pictures so you can see where to the landing begins. It has a good 5 foot drop to the landing.

Lastly I did a little work in the front yard play area. I built a brand new berm that leads to the left side line. Fixed the first lip going into the right side line, and smoothed the runway for the 2x4 shore stunt thing. All in all it was a productive day!
Any of you are more then welcome to come ride up here in Hesperia, kind of a drive for most of you though. Sorry for the blurry pics at the end the cold and wind make it hard to hold the camera steady. There is a lot of cross country, some quick downhills (not too lengthy but some fast and steep hills), and plenty of jumps. Should be a little something for everyone. |

Looks fun, but I hope it's not in an area where the owner or LM would take exception to it.
Most of it looks pretty harmless, but I would be careful about building then right up to the engineered drainage structures. If for some reason the structure gets undermined and fails (even if it's not a direct result of you trail work), they would still probably blame the trail work for the failure. The one on the inlet side of the V-Ditch however could possibly change the flow just enough to undermine the structure. Just don't want you (or bikers in general) to get blamed for anything. Water is a tough thing to control and it does not take much to have a v-ditch fail if the edge berms lose their ability to direct water into the ditch. Just a suggestion. Nice work though....looks fun.

![]() Yea, the drainage is kind of goofy because it was put in but not finished completely so some drains go some where while other end in random locations. It's a housing track that was being built 10-13 years ago and hasn't been touched once it went bankrupt. But we haven't blocked anything or caused damage (well it's all dirt so I don't know what kind of damage could occur). |
