I build jumps

Hey Jman!

When I build jumps it's mainly just dirt. I only build when it's wet so it will pack well. I have piled rocks and other hard solid objects and had great success like you see on those north shore videos. I usually add a little dirt then pack it a little then add dirt and pack it a little and repeat till it's done. But make sure the jump is packed before trying it out, you can jump it wet or let it dry, just make sure it's nice and firm.

My bike is a Transition Bottlerocket. I got it from The Path. It's hands down the best bike I've ever ridden.

You can see them at there site:
www.transitionbikes.com

Or if you want to drool check this bike out at www.dropnzone.com:

Is that considered single pivot or is that their own version of another suspension type. It almost looks VPP but I'm no expert? That is a nice compact looking bike, I'll bet its a blast to ride, how's it do on the uphill?

Not sure what it is, I think it's single pivot. I just rode of whole bunch of bikes and bought which one I thought was the best.

As far as the uphills she's pretty easy to push.

That's sort of refreshing really, it seems like people get to caught up in the latest and greatest and aren't worried about the plain simple truth of how it rides. I know I can get caught up in what the tech is and what the name is. Not a trait I'm proud of but one I fall prey to way to often...especially in mtn biking.

What a bummer! I was in Victorville today with my bike in the back of my truck; I am a commercial truck driver. As I was heading up to Big Bear on HWY 18 I was searching for jumps along the rode. I did see a BMX track. Well, the sign for it at least. Your stuff looks great!

That's Horseman's BMX track. Pretty fun place, I used to race BMX there 10 or so years ago. There is some fun downhill places around the track with all those rocks.

SO the other night I found a little jump and a nice berm just down the street. I rode for like 30 minutes, crashed once and loved every second. So that and my 6 year old twins telling me that girls don't ride mtn bikes has spurned me to start building jumps/pump track in my backyard. I dug up my first jump this afternoon and while it's fairly sad looking I think it'll work. I just wanted to get it started and then I can ride it a bit and see how it works and start fine tuning things from there. Tomorrow I think I'm going to tackle my first berm. It was hard work but sort of fun. I took some pictures but I'm on the wrong computer right now so I'll post later.
