anything i try to say will just echo what the other bubbs have said. but, i guess i'll still say it. take the time off, it will suck, but it would suck harder to crash and never be able to ride again, or never be able to do other things outside of riding again. the month will drag, but then it will also go by fast when you look back at it.
kinda off topic, but back in 97' we had some epic surf up here, a perfect West/NorthWest swell for a solid week. i had a sore throat for awhile, i disregarded the doctors advice and kept going out and getting waves, it was too good to pass up. after feeling more and more like shit everyday, i went back to the doctor and i ended up having two ear infections, sinusitus, and pneumonia, yes pneumonia, talk about a shitty sitch!!! heal up bubb!

I can totally relate - had to take 5 1/2 months off this year , right at the intro of summer , Take the Dr's Advice , with the weather changing and the hope of rain in the forcast , now is a great time to cross train your fitness with perhaps a life-cycle , jogging , stadiums , weightlifting , core work-outs . Keep your spirits up Doug , this to shall pass . I know the thought of not riding kills you , I admire your dedication to the sport , make some new short term goals and enjoy the Holidays

A couple of years ago I had a concussion. I also was told not to ride, not to surf, and get plenty of rest. I only slowed down but still I rode. I didn't have any second impact, but my recovery was most likely slower than it should have been. I had a lot of memory problems and I don't remember much of that time. I checked my Geoladders log and I guess I did take about a month off. I thought I rode the day after the accident. Guess not. But I do remember riding when the doctor told me not to. I remember not having the same energy or endurance, and I remember the headaches at the top of each climb. I pushed myself and tried to force a recovery, but I only slowed it down. Don't do what I did, take it easy, time passes quickly.
Enjoy your family.

Take it easy bro but FYI doctors always over estimate on how long you should take it easy. Doctors say take it easy for long times because they always worry about malpractice

Its just a month, it'll be over before you know it.
Thread derail: I tried about half a dozen times to get with Taffy15 to do some trail work; seems like he prefers to work alone. ![]()

Yeah, in the grand scheme of things it is just one month. If you're anything like me, trying to be extra careful to avoid doing something usually result in me doing just that.
If you get out on a trail and try to ride extra careful so you won't crash, well chances are you'll crash because you are riding different. It's not worth the risk man. If I recall some of your past posts correctly, I think you have kids. That right there is all the reason you need not to put yourself at risk. I say put some slicks on and do some rides around the neighborhood just to keep the feeling of riding in your mind (so you don't go nuts). Good luck.
