Yeah Tani's way cool. I stop by there every once in while just to pester with questions and in hope some MTB skill endows me through osmosis. I've checked out his shoes a few times but never has what I'm looking for. I know I can order whatever I want but I really want to try them on first. That's why I refuse to order online.

I've got a fat foot so I'm partial to the SIDI Dominator 5 Mega since it comes in a wide. Also, most all the parts are replaceable.
It is pretty pricey but I'm happy with mine. Some complain that the sole is too stiff for walking but I try not to do that too much ![]()

I love the Specialized shoes for fit (I have wide feet) but they are too destructible. I am on my 2nd pair in 2 years and they are toast. This weekend, I also saw that Epicriderat and Man blong Gaua have rips in the shoes exactly where mine have it...the inside of the heel area is shredding and the mesh is ripped.
I am going to be looking into a pair of Sidi (in mega width). They will hold up a lot better even though they cost more. I could've bought 1 pair of Sidi for what I have spent so far on Spec. Just my .02 |

^^I dunno...maybe I'm too hard on them, but both pairs have disintegrated within (or in less than) a year.

^^I guess you actually ride your bike, my Turner just sits on my couch mainly
The BGs I had were there top of the line model, so maybe only their high end shoes have any durability. This is the one I'm currently eyeing: ![]() |

^^Looks like those are more durable...
the ones I have are covered in mesh in the toe area...now there is a huge hole on one side where it ripped open! So, I'd say, no mesh = a good thing ![]() |

![]() How do you feel about the Adidas shoes like the Minret and the El Moro? Have you tried on the Shimano MP66 shoes? How about the Specialized Tahoe? We will order shoes just for you to try on. That is one of our plays for sure. |

I have the same problem as Stef. My Big S shoes are ripped on both feet where the toebox mesh is. I also smashed a buckle at Chiquito with Marshall Willanholly this last weekend. That was fun trying to get the shoe off
They have been comfy and realiable shoes though.Cheers, Andy |

Specialized has a pretty good waranty. How old are all of these shoes that are comming apart?
Sidis last a long time, but they take some braking in to be comfy for me. I do not fee that the Sidi shoes provide good toe protection, and they do not hike real well. All items have drawbacks... Those Spec trail 120 shoes are not durable. The 110s may be better. |

I got the newer ones that are leather and mesh. Been riding them for 2 years now. The fit is great, no problems with the soles. But I just noticed I just punched a hole through the mesh right where my pinky toe is. Other wise the shoes are great, they just need to put leather right there around the toe. I'm just going to put some duct tape on it. ![]() Mega Sidi Dominators maybe next time, but I need to absolutely kill my Specialized shoes first. Which I think could take awhile except for the little hole in the mesh.

Good topic. I need some new shoes as my cheapo Answer Impacts are pretty shredded after 9 months. They aren't that comfy either now that they have been worn in.
I want a shoe that is comfy and lasts a while without laces. I would rather spend more for comfort than going cheap. I have learned my lesson.

I've had my Specialized shoes for about 8 years now!!!
Not sure what model they are...they are tan/green, and resemble a low-top hiking shoe/tennis shoe cross. Lace-up only. I have nothing to compare them to...but they are wide (I have wide feet) and they have lasted 8 years so far!
