there is one issue with shimano shoes- if you have wide feet they likely won't work.

Dude- Unless your racing, I'd say drop that whole stiff sole XC business, and buy some of these supercomfy 661s(SPD compatible):

The only issue I have with the lace ups is that I sometimes have issues clipping out, as there is movement inside my shoe I think the stiffness helps with clipping out as well...just my.02 cents

True. However, I have kinda wide feet and didn't have any major issues with them.
I got three good years out of them. Using SIDIs now.

dont like the lace up...the specialized i posted recently is a bit much w/ the CF sole but it's nice to have a semi stiff shoe for pedaling...not good for freeriding but definitely good for climbing.

i hate to admit it, but I'm kinda with you. sheer quantity allowed for discounts that were unbeatable.

Nothing beats Specialized Body Geometry in my experience.

For all you downhill donkeys Specialized makes a pretty sweet mid-top version with ankle bone protection too...I think it's called the BG TRAIL 110. http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCEqP...jsp?spid=26132

Looks about 7 times better than the Shimano version, plus it's got BG.

I've seen all types at the Path.

We just got our shipment of these this week. They seem to be pretty popular. Decent price as well.

FYI The Jensens deal on Shimano M181's are a little better as until the end of November, you get an additional 10% off when you buy in the store from 5:00 to 7:00, PLUS their latest mailer (which they have sitting on the counter) has a coupon for an additional $5 off!!! Net cost before tax is about $67.

Time for some new FiveTens...no grip left on these puppies but I love them. I know The Path and GarageWorks has them but has anyone found them locally around here. 909 area.
THANKS.

I bought my last 3 pairs from The Path. Before that, I ordered them direct online from Five-Ten.
