Hypothetically, lets say that that driver is a mountain biker and was listening to music- and those roadies are hikers.

I've been wanting to buy one of these things for road rides since I don't really like anything in my ears while riding... looks like you could probably just hook something on it and hang it from the handlebar or something.
Only for road riding though, I don't like to listen to anything while MTBing http://www.amazon.com/iMainGo-Handhe...6587487&sr=8-2 |

I personally don't like to listen to anything. I think its fine so long as you can hear what going on around you. I hate trying to pass a hiker/biker that can't hear a damn thing over his ipod.

I rock headphones all the time. They may not always be on but my helmet is permanently wired for sound. I use Slipstreamz. You can actually still hear things when listening to music because the headphones are not actually in your ear. I attach the wires to the helmet strap with small zip ties and clip a 1 GB iPod Shuffle to the tension strap on the back of the helmet (this works with Giro and Specialized for sure but not on Bell helmets).

Yep I ride with an ipod sometimes - a shuffle clipped to the back of my helmet - on remote solo rides. I also sometimes ride without a helmet, thru the trees. And I carry beer in my pack. And sometimes I forget sunscreen.
Live a little. Don't be a hater. Common sense rules.

What I like to do, if someone rides or walks with their head phones in and they are blocking the road; I like to creep up really close to them and ride directly next to them (Almost poking them with my handle-bars, and then eventually having our handlebars tap); Say sorry then speed off.

i clip my 1 GB shuffle to my Camelbak strap and use the earbuds that wrap behind the ears. The volume is low enough I can still hear my buddies who I ride with talking to me. Most trails I ride I'm very familiar with and know where most hikers tread. I much rather listen to background music I like rather than wind noise or my pulse as I push upwards on a climb. The harder genre music (progressive, post-grunge, death/black metal) helps speed up my cadence considerably
