the MTBR SoCal board is useless. The Turner, Nor-Cal, and 29 board have good stuff.

Not picking on that particular luser, but that describes a whole lot of @$$h@les on every forum. Case in point - I used to participate in a couple of email lists run by this guy from Michigan. He was a basher and a flamer on email and managed to pi$$ off a number of people, me included. When I met him in person, he turned out to be the stereotypical shy computer geek. I guess the anonymity of the 'Net let him rant and rave without the consequences that would have occurred in person.

Being a NorCal guy, I find the NorCal and Chumba forums are pretty useful, but yeah, there's a lot of noise on MTBR.

A few questions Mott:
1. What does it mean to be a "loyal" member of a website?
2. Calling SMT "one of their own" is a reach. Who's own?
3. Thinking SMT is mortified is also a shot in the dark. SMT is probably laughing and all the uproar and the infamy. (and this thread perhaps)

The Downhill board on MTBR is like this crowd...

The Downhill board on MTBR is like this crowd...
1. Loyal means you stand up for it.
2. Reach? I dont think so.
3. Shot in the dark? again your opinion. He wasnt too happy when I talked to him.

If you think that DH board is like this crowd your dreaming.

The DH forum on MTBR! What a freakin' joke!

There are 5-10 A-HOLES who think it is their personal private forum! One guy wanted me to fight him because I offered another member an opinion that was CONTRARY to his...

My idea (non-IH related) saved the one guy $1,000, was a better fit for him, AND I was publicly thanked for my input. Needless to say, A-HOLE didn't like it!

Like I said, 5-10 guys ruined MTBR for me! I enjoy forums because they:
1) allow for an exchange of information
2) they POTENTIALLY can be quite useful
3) they provide a sense of community (i.e. helping one another)

Aside from the Iron Horse Forum... Intense Forum ...... and (if I a am super duper bored) the CHUMBA forum...... I choose NOT to devote much time to that website.

I totally disagree with you and I'll take you down anytime!
-from another shy geek (TOTALLY joking)

Actually, I haven't been on MTBR; much prefer the people and helpful info here. I love your site George!

Thumbs up

Seems to me that one of the reasons this board stays so friendly is that most of us know and ride with each other... I didn't find that so on many of the other boards. We all don't agree with everything other Tribe members say ... but there seems to be a basic underlying respect for others... and that's how it should be.

I check MTBR still, but nowadays I find that the more I sign on to this forum, the less I find myself at MTBR. STR is like a tractor beam!
