I'm reading in some threads about an adventure/access pass of some sort. Is it basically like a green sticker for bikes? Where to get, how much, etc. I'm new to all this as you can tell...Thanks!

I bought mine at Sports chalet for $30 and you can purchase a second pass for your "2nd" car for $5.00. You need this to park at any National Forest areas like at San Juan or Maple Springs, Noble Canyon...,etc.
If you don't have one, you can put $5 in an envelope that is provided at the trailhead. You write you Lic. plate # on the envelope, drop in the the drop box and place the receipt on your dash. Here is a link on info about passes. http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sanbernardino/ap/pass-options.shtml |

How often do people take their second car with them? For some reason that doesn't sound right. Although I can see motorhomes with their tag-along.

If you can't get one in time for you're ride, you'll get a $5 ticket. It's better just to get the pass though.

I was just reading of the San Juan SS ride today and saw people talking about a pass to park. Just trying to get some info before I head out somewhere so I end up ticket-free. I seem to be a ticket magnet - maybe I should change my last name - 'Steele'.... Anyway, gonna be doing the Fullerton loop tomorrow with my sister and brother-in-law and hopefully my brother too - the Tara Llanes benefit ride. How was Hawaii? Or are you still there?

could this thread be another can of worms waiting to be opened? there has been a long winded debate on these 'adventure' or as some call them, 'extorsion' passes.

You can't tell the $$ goes to the parks in the San Gabs. No water. Dirty toilets. Locked bathrooms. I agree that they are BS! I have seen very few improvements in some of my riding areas! I never buy a pass and if I get a ticket, I send the $$ in at that time. Sometimes.

I rode San Juan today (I was the guy on the balck 1x1) and they don't have the envelope on the dashboard option anymore. My annual pass ran out at the end of last month and I figured that I'd just get an envelope, but you can't do that anymore at San Juan (redundant, I know). Being Thanksgiving, I couldn't get a pass anywhere, so I just wrote a note. Looking at the other cars at the trailhead, I think alot of people didn't have a pass and I didn't see any tickets. Anyway, I'll buy a new pass tomorrow at Sport Chalet.
